Pulse 61 v Stars 42
Steel are looking very average this season and another horrible game against the Magic, once O’Çonnell loses confidence she shoots very poorly.
On the other hand, the Magic are looking fantastic and I originally thought they were going to be wooden spoon contenders but they have performed well at Super Club and this tournament so perhaps not.
Pulse and Tactix are looking very good.
Magic 57 v Steel 47
Tactix 56 v Mystics 50
Pulse 39 v Magic 36 (4 x 10 mins)
Does anyone know why all teams aren’t playing each other – that’d be 15 games. And given there’s 11 games, how’d they work out who wouldn’t play each other…was it something to do with where they ended up on the ladder in 2019?
Well I know it’s pre season, but teams that stand out are the Pulse, Tactix and Magic. Pulse and Tactix the main 2.
Really like seeing Jane Watson back out at GD, the Te Paea and Bird combo looks like it will gel nicely. Temalisi is a bit of the pace, but held her own against Nweke.Mystics really struggling without MSB and Mes. If Bailey isn’t able to play all the ANZ, Mystics will struggle big time.
Stars and Steel nothing to get excited about.
Magic look not to bad, they might do ok this year.
I believe the teams get to say how many games they want to play over the tournament JR.
I’m enjoying the Magic, McPhee really needs to work on her contact but shot ok. ALM is a different player this year, just looks to be more confident in herself and once Marshall gets her confidence on the mid range shots they’ll be awesome down that end. Souness is carving it up at C and I’m enjoying watching Fowler and Mikaere working together (I got a shock when she blocked an Ekenasio shot!!)
I wish that the fitness standards required by the Ferns can get implemented across the ANZP. Teams start off with a hiss and a roar and fade towards the end, could be tired legs.
Some interesting performances
Tactix looking good. But, it is just pre season!
Need to wonder why Stars recruited Daystar Swift. Doesn’t offer much apart from Height. Mahi is more exciting.
Grapes at GA for Mystics over Tui. Strange.
So many young middies in NZ. Going to be an exciting year to see who steps up.
Stars vs Steel
Swift is doing nothing on O’Connell.
