Watching Game 9 – Steel v Stars
Agree with TS, why recruit Swift, she looks off the pace but then again I also thought the same about Hume. She looks more settled with the Stars.
I hope Steel have someone who can work with O’Connell and sort out her shooting B-)

Hume looking more confident in Stars than Mystics.
Burley is a star for the future at GD. Reminds me of a fit Cullen at GD.
McCollin is a great pick up for Steel. Perfect play maker and a beautiful shot on her.
Kara looking FIT! No team has a weak midcourt this year.
MRB playing a great game at C.Yeah, surprised no one has helped change/adjust O’Connell shot. Would love to see Noels work one on one with her in the future.
I wonder if in the future a couple of SSN teams could be invited to the tournament. It’s a unique 3 days, all teams stay on the Marae (Maori meeting ground).
Usually the teams sleep in the same building, mattress on the floor, eat at the Marae.Be something different, get rid of the Super Club comp, that tournament is a waste of time.
Sorry, thought I had posted the link to the first game today. Anyway, it finished up Steel 64 v Stars 52
Tactix 62 v Magic 53
Pulse 69 v Mystics 55
Some good matches over the weekend.
Tactix- looking good throughout the court. Faka will get there with a few more matches under her belt.
Midcourt strong and the shooting combo looking good!Steel- I am picking Fifita to take that GK bib. Adds strength at the back. If O’Connell can be confident, they will again be top 3. McCollin is a great GA
Mystics- coaching problems? Didn’t seem to have structure throughout the court. Fitzpatrick looked lost with Karaka which was strange.
If Mes is out of the season, they won’t do well.
Earle will have a big year.Magic- very very very fast and strong in the middle. Mikaere Fowler combo will be hard to stop. Marshall will bench warm, with McPhee at GS
Pulse- unbelievably strong
Stars- Wilson Hume combo looking slick.
Kara MRB Ioane combo look fast and fitBurley in for a big year. Swift a dud signing IMO
Swift wasn’t even the starting GK for T&T for much of the WC, a strange signing for sure. If they wanted someone international they really could have gone for Vinkhumbo or the GD from Zimbabwe. There’s also a whole host of Jamaican and English players who probably would have been better options.
The management said they signed Swift to combat the taller shooters….
She did nothing on the taller players!
Maihi is a much better GK than her.I was a HUGE fan of Nweke last year. But, seeing how Dunn Bird McPhee Wilson have taken their games to the next level, it shows that Nweke is no where near international netball standard. Yet.
Any Australian playing in the Premiership this year?
WOW what a tournament :good:
back
Pulse – agree with you TS. They appear to have picked up where they left off last season. I was a bit worried about Jury but she said that she’s only just started playing again. She looks fit so it will be interesting to see how she improves. Loving Gordon in the mid court.Tactix – lots and lots of positives. Can’t wait until Faka gets her confidence back. Watson, Poi and Elley :good:
Magic – this is my team, and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised with what they put out there. I just hope they have the fitness levels to maintain that speed for 60 mins.
Steel – strong defence and mid court but they have to sort out Jen O and her shooting, if not thy will struggle.
Stars – Swift 🙁 if they wanted someone tall why didn’t they just pick Lloyd instead of letting her travel to London. Jo Trip has been fantastic for the last few seasons or just get Ama back!
Mystics – yeah what TS said
Yep, agree with everything said. Really enjoyed seeing Faka/ Watson!
Tactix to me look like real contenders for the title! Some how I think Steel werent trying to win. We’re they trying to expose their flaws as a strategy for something to work on? I hope so lol.
Magic looked hugely improved from the Superclub. The structures really seem to working themselves out.
Mystics are in trouble. They may remain on the bottom if they keep playing like that. Grapes is crap and so is Icerson. Tui isn’t a starter yet either, literally still a kid.
Pulse have a full working squad where everyone can come on and change up a match. Very exciting for them.
Stars looking like they can improve on their new team. Lots of work to do, but improvement is there. Kara looking good!
Fitness still seems to be an issue in the last half. Teams have to get that full 60 minutes energy and determination to win games. I wished Noeline was on everyone’s bench to share her wisdom to the coache’s and players. Good tournament.
