In this thread, we will put all of the news regarding announcements, player movement and signing news for next year’s ANZP. Starting with a BIG one.
Title winner Aliyah Dunn not returning to Central Pulse in 2023
Pulse progressed with their signings “2023 team to be named in coming days”.
Mature quote from Dunn – wants to challenge herself in a new environment. Good on her.
Still only 22. Amazing.
YMD is the best coach (hehe in my opinion) in the ANZp. I really want her to be developing a NZer player. I don’t mind who but NZ talent.
I hope that it is a NZ shooter that they go with and not an import, would be super disappointed if it was.
Good for Dunn to want to challenge herself, she has said before that she’d like to try GA more, will be interesting who Tactix keep with Bird and TPSB if they do.
Cough @mcleod? cough haha
Pulse team announced
Masson, Ainsleyana Puleiata, Mvula, Ioane the inclusions.Pulse team:
Maddy Gordon
Fa’amu Ioane
Kelly Jury
Kristiana Manu’a
Parris Mason
Tiana Metuarau
Joyce Mvula
Ainsleyana Puleiata
Whitney Souness
Amelia WalmsleyAinsleyana Puleiata has been signed for Pulse. She was with Central Manawa and did have some game time this season as covid cover. She’s able to cover all mid court positions.
Joyce Mvula is coming to Pulse. I do wish a NZ up and comer had been recruited.
Sorry for all the updates, I’ve finally found the article with the squad for Pulse https://www.pulse.org.nz/news/news-article/international-shooter-to-join-pulse?fbclid=IwAR1jjf60aV-ZEVQYmqlB0yQVmV12rviKCVz8frg5Mm7mYU-72Posz-4t5N0
Nice to see Ioane get picked up. I’m hoping YMD invests time in Walmsley, who will be a future SF.
Nice balanced team with good player retention.
Why? There’s no need for any import shooters. Shame on Pulse I reckon. Otherwise Pulse has a solid team but not supporting the Mvula move.
From an outsiders perspective, how much of a team is put together by a board/management versus the Coach?
Is YMD being dictated to, to have an international GS or is she driving this?
I can understand the POV to have experience replace the starting GS of the last 5 years, but also recall Dunn was a newbie in 2018 and it was the foresight of YMD that handed her that GS bib.
In saying that, you have to think Walmsley made the decision to stay, based on the knowledge she is very much the third shooter?
