The right choices, also for the TPs. Stacey has always been methodical.

I hope Dwyer gets a good amount of court time. I wouldn’t mind her playing a bit of GS as well with Austin at GA, I quite like her there. Price and to a lesser extent Hadley are excellent at feeding a moving circle so could be worth trialling. Would like to see Moloney at WD over price.

Does anyone know anything more about Proud’s knee injury?

Pleasantly surprised by Ash Ervin’s invitation to camp. She’s got great potential.

I hope RBD and Wallam get an opportunity against South Africa

@capsule – I believe she has had surgery, so maybe just a clean out before 2024, rather than something serious.

Strong team, good continuity. The SA series will probably have more of a “B team” look to it (haha).

                What about Parmenter?

Why would they need Parmenter when they have two midcourters that play both WD/C?
Also according to most on here, Toeava dominated when she played cause she was playing against Parmenter.
So I’m not surprised she didn’t make the cut.

In all seriousness, and I’m sure it’s been mentioned on here before. I think Parmenter needs to work on her C game, if she has desires to make the Diamonds. Either that, or she needs to be a total stand out at WD where no one could argue that she’s the best at that position. I’m thinking all the ex Diamonds player Mckinnis, Squire, Gilsenan, Hallinan etc.

Yeah I think Parmenter’s need to improve versatility is probably behind her Mavs move. Much more chance at court time in C there than at Giants.

But then lack of versatility is why I’m a little surprised at ATN’s invite. She was hands down of the best WAs in SSN this year but doesn’t have a second position. Just as it is hard to take a specialist WD the same goes for WA. After Mundy I think Gardner and Fraser would be in contention over the next few years and Williams to fill the role that Moloney does in time.

Hope Garrett gets a chance during South African tests!

Diamonds are definitely going to be looking at Ervin to come through in the next couple of years. Not a lot of tall strong bodied GKs for Australia after Klau and Bruce. In SSN the only other one I can think of is Rudi Ellis, who needs SSN court time (hopefully next year).

I think there’s a bit more room to bring specialist players into camp, even if only for training purposes. I do also wonder if they’re still holding out a little bit of hope that ATN’s shooting will come good and she’s viable as a GA option. The third GA option for Diamonds is a bit of a question mark right now IMO. It will be interesting to see if Koenen plays there at all during the Con Cup.

I agree lacking depth in GA at the moment so you may be right about ATN in that capacity. Considering that Wood and Bueta are unavailable still in a great spot.

So long as she comes back fit and strong Batcheldor will be in the squad in 12 months. She is the 3rd best imo.

Are people forgetting tippah dwan? Easily best positioned for that third GA spot she’s building fantastically

Shocked that they wouldn’t go with RBD or Garrett over Weston

Weston is great but unlikely to play at next comm games or World Cup time to start looking forward, I think you can find the mix between sending a full b team and giving young players opportunity

Also shocked that horjus is not in camp

Imo she’s equally good WA as ATN and a significantly better GA

No one is forgetting Dwan. She is an invitee.

I still rate Batcheldor ahead of her once Batcheldor is fit though. Better range. Taller. Stronger. Stronger on rebound.

But right now yes Dwan is fit and so 3rd and invited.

Weston is younger than Bruce and the same age as Klau. Should they be dropped too?

They only have a week of camp to prepare iirc, and no one has played netball since the World Cup. Last year they struggled a bit coming into the Con Cup after their break and with no Weston or Brazill. Going in with their strongest squad makes sense. There’s still plenty of time to blood the next gen of players. I won’t be shocked either if they don’t bring in as many new players for the South Africa series as people seem to expect.
