I’m in Victoria, Echuca. It’s hell on earth 🥺🥺🥺. Our biggest nightmare would be the Sydney fires joining the Aslpine ones in Victoria.

Not personally affected but know many who are. We are a long way from any fires but my brother was evacuated from his Adelaide Hills home in the week before Christmas and many friends of his lost their homes. A friend worked at the Southern Ocean Lodge in Kangaroo Island which was burnt down (had not long been there, moved from Darwin for the job) and lost all her belongings and car and now has no job. A guy in my gym group was in Batemans Bay over New Year with family so went through hell there, another was home in Mallacoota for Christmas and that has been horrendous and it goes on. Lots of other friends who live in bushfire zones so the worry has been constant.

I don’t think there would be many people in Australia who don’t know someone affected. It is really horrific.

                          It’s just been awful AllieC
Going to bed each night, worried the fires are getting closer, will they join? The losses have been just awful, fb loves showing all the gruesome pics, just makes you cry. Daughterinlaws boss was caught in Mallacoota, ended up on Sunrise tv, God love her. But end of day we knew we were in for a bad summer, with no burnoffs, no stock able to roam the parks, it’s just been as waiting game. Sadly it isn’t over yet. They say Victorians have had rain? Really? Mallacoota 0.8mls, Bairnsdale had maybe 2mls and we’ve had 2.2mls. Hardly enough to put out a camp fire.
