How horrible would it be if the supershot was the reason Fitzgerald was keeping Bassett off? Not saying it is but imagine how this rule could have changed everything for her. I think she should stay in AUs as she will have a better chance of retaining her Diamonds position for a few more years, if that is what she wants, but if she thinks she won’t get court time cause of the supershot then I understand the desire to move over to NZ

The word on the street is that she’s going to Magic in NZ…
If that’s the case then I really don’t blame her. Would be good for Magic to have an experienced shooter.

I find it ironic and a wee bit sad that it was implied by Lisa Alexander that Bassett partly left Lightining due to a conflict on interest when Noeline because ferns coach….now she very well might be playing in NZ and fully entrenched in the ANZ champs system…..go figure.
Further irony is the fact that many – fans and commentators – alike are calling for Thwaites to come out of international retirement….but she too was brushed aside by the Aussie teams all those years ago. Australia has become too preoccupied with ‘the next big thing’ – just look at the fossils for the ferns in 2019.
I agree with you about the fossils. Their experience helped the Kiwis in the end; Australia probably had the most inexperienced side at the World Cup.
My only concern now is that the CC is in 2021 so the Diamonds they have extra time to develop the young shooters before pushing Bassett out. DOesn’t help if she isn’t playing with Aussie shooter but fingers crossed its the opposite and makes her stronger.
