Other than Aryang, that’s the team I would’ve expected/picked.
I’m just left wondering what else Maddy Proud can do to get a look in…
Happy with that team. Australia has so many strong wing defences. Jamie lee will be an asset as she is such a strong centre as well.
I feel Wallam is a little unfit and not versatile enough to be included in the team.I think the issue with Wallam is that she still lacks a bit of experience and resilience. She can really get beaten by defenders, and can drop her head if things aren’t going well. Garbin had a very forgettable season at GA for the Magpies, but she has shown that she can stand up and keep offering against the top defenders when she’s in at GS. Not just in the internationals, but also all the years she was used by the Swifts.
Kinda a very predictable and boring team named.
I agree it was quite a predictable team, but genuinely curious what would have made it interesting instead?
Also some of the headlines (clickbait really) and the comments on social media about Wallam following the announcement are disgraceful. The glee that she has been “dropped” and got what she deserved is awful.
Hopefully she isn’t reading it and is well supported.Yes I think the team was predictable. Still feel it is an exciting team.
I really don’t know what would have made it exciting, it’s probably just the netball they play isn’t very interesting. It’s really structured without any flare.
Tbh I don’t find the diamonds exciting; they are predictable and rather boring. That’s due to the fact the play clinical clean netball. I find the Jamaicans and the African nations make the World Cup fun and exciting.
I’m not as concerned about the attack end as some, it’s more the defence end. Weston and Aryang are not ball winners and both Bruce and Klau have had some sub-par performances internationally. Add in that Brazill is not in career-best form and JLP hasn’t played WD week-in week-out for ages and there are some red flags there. Fowler/Beckford, Cardwell/Housby and Nweke/Ekenasio are all formidable circles which will be very difficult to stop if they hit their straps. To be honest all defensive ends will have it pretty tough except for the Jamaicans, they’re just on another level.
Interesting. I always enjoy watching the Diamonds, but I can also understand that perspective.
I agree that I would like to see more of a ball winning GD as a change up option. Maybe we will see Klau or Bruce at GD at times to try and achieve that?
I guess there was a lot more flare with Bueta in the front line. I think it is also something Wood brings to the game, but it isn’t such a feature of the midcourt.
