Apparently it was mentioned in Outsiders to “watch this space” for news on CBass this week…

Interesting to hear Paul Kennedy say on @InsidersABC this AM to "watch this space this week" for news on Caitlin Bassett. Lots of unsubstantiated rumours flying about her future, that's for sure. If she does leave, wow, what an embarrassment to Australian #netball (IMHO).

Well she would have a fairly strong connection with Noeline, and may have been in talks with her about playing in NZ?
NZ still playing the traditional netball style, may/will suite CBass better.

I doubt CBass will move to NZ, more likely another Australian club. As Giants are out of finals, it would make sense that they said ‘watch this space’ because contract negotiations are probably in progress and discussions being had. But it would be interesting to see her in NZ, not sure if she’s exactly the type of GS they tend to go for.

She’s the exact type of GS they’d go for! I reckon she’d be a perfect fit for Magic.
CBass ALM Kara and Winders would make a very strong attacking end.

She’s also good friends with Mikaere too, so that may also sway her to go there.

How good would the ANZP be if she was the GS for the Magic? It would be the most even one yet! As a long suffering Magic fan, I could only dream of such things happening haha

I can’t imagine why she would go to NZL. She would be getting paid significantly less and would pretty much wave goodbye to her Diamonds career. There are teams in Australia that would definitely be interested.

I think it might be a retirement. I also wonder if she’s had some form of lingering injury or auto-immune condition that the Giants haven’t disclosed…

I also get the feeling that CBass hasn’t been staying with the rest of the Giants team. She drove up to QLD with her dog (unrestrained; dangerous especially with a dog of that size) when the remainder of the team flew up and all the social media posts from the team you never see CBass with them in the accommodation. Though I am happy to be corrected on that.

now you mention it Schmeetle I agree, I’ve barely seen anything of her on her teammates socials. I think maybe injury or retirement, hence Giants wanting to build for next year?(though it doesn’t make sense she didn’t get much game time when they were still premiership contenders)

It looked to me like Bassett had been rooming with Austin for awhile based on Austin’s Instagram stories. Bassett roomed with Parmenter early on.

As a kiwi fan, I’d be devastated to see one of Aussie’s greatest go out in this fashion. C-Bass destroyed NZ from 2011 – to 2018. DeBruin, Harrison and Rore never had an impact on her – Kopua had a couple of good games on her at Gk in 2015, and Jury had one great game in 2017/2018….other than that, i don’t remember us ever having an answer for C-Bass. She reminds me of Van Dyk in the sense that she mightn’t get the farewell she deserves. I’d LOVE to think she might head to NZ….on a side note, MAdi Browne said on a podcast last week that she’d like to play in NZ or UK – I don;t think CBAss would get too much less $$$ at magic for example than she’d be getting at Giants.

I’d like to see her head back to Lightning now that Kylie is coach – she could be an impact player for them.

IMO she will go back to the Lightning. But if CBass came to NZ I’d be happy.
Very sad to see the online bullying she got after hurting her knee.

If there is an announcement this week then I suspect it’d be related to Giants and Bassett. Otherwise if it is in respect of her changing clubs then I’d be surprised if it was one of the clubs about to finals as you’d expect their attention is yet to turn to 2021.

Any teams that are in finals don’t need a new and decent shooter but … the magpies do!
