She’s retiring from international netball only, leaving Giants, or getting engaged.
I think it may be a problem with her hand or she’s lined up a spot at Firebirds :mail: Gretel, Dwan and CBass… interesting line up
Heard the same about an NZ team chasing after her, but unsure if that has resulted in anything concrete. Let’s hope it isn’t a retirement.
Retirement from Diamonds? Heading to Magic. Highly likely but still
Interesting. I think she will retire from international netball for sure. Didn’t she leave Fever when Stacey came?

Jenny Woods (NZ commentator) was on the Netball Show and she said C-Bass to Magic is what she’s heard. Apparently they’re announcing their shooting end on Friday so we’ll soon find out.
It’s a shame for C-Bass but I also don’t see her finishing this international cycle so it’s a good time to retire internationally and I think the NZ game will suit her. She would play well with ALM out in front of her and being fed by Grace Kara.If Magic can get CBASS then they will be very strong. All 6 teams will be on the same level.
If Bassett moves to NZ, will NA giver her an exemption so that she is still available for the Diamonds next year?
I really hope she isn’t moving to NZ, I love watching her play (one of the few holding shooter I enjoy watching), especially when she has a crafty GA in front of her. I would hope it is her saying that she is moving to another Aus club but I worry because only NZ team are really announcing 2021 rosters at the moment.I don’t think she’ll need an exemption as the Diamonds don’t have an official eligibility rule. But I think by moving it’s practically an unofficial Diamonds retirement. I don’t see her getting selected over Garbin or Dwan if she’s not even playing with Australian players. If it was Liz Watson it might be a different story.
I’d expect she’s had discussions about her future being the diamonds captain- with Stacey and perhaps they see the road ahead without her in the picture ie she got her marching orders.
I’d love to see her out for the Magic! She COULD pull a Kopua and retire but not really retire lol.
I have noticed on CBass’s Instagram page that she has deleted the Diamonds Captain part out…
Realistically she clearly isn’t considered as a leading GS in the format of the SSN, therefore at this point in her career when she has achieved so much it is surely in her interests to play (being the operative word…) her style of netball. I think she would get that in ANZ and surely she will choose to play the style she enjoys. Regardless, I hope she ends up somewhere she feels like she fits in!
I thought she could shoot from that range? isn’t that what LA said a few weeks ago? then why does he stay and fight for her place… if she hasn’t had a chat with Stacey I bet she has with Fitz, hence the potential move to Magic.
IMHO this article is just a way for her to see what options are available. Netballcrazy1 is right, I’m sure TBirds or Pies will take her. She’s a better option than Glasgow and Lenise wants to play GA. Rob W is probably checking the small print in Nelson’s contract as we speak but he could swap her Ryde for CBass.
alex The Diamonds need CBass, deffo in the short term. I haven’t read the other thread about Aus team selection but she is the only GS you have that has proven herself at international level (Austen would have been tested if LA had let her play in the pre WC quad series, instead of dragging her all the way to Eng to sit on the bench).
I’m a Magic fan. Do I want CBass in my team? yes because we need a strong shooter but no because it makes the team one dimensional. I’m also worried that all the games in the ANZP will be a LOB fest B-)
The Diamonds may need Bassett in the short term, but the short term doesn’t really matter. The Diamonds have won enough Constellation Cups and Quad Series. What they need to win are the World Cup and Comm Games, and Marinkovich knows that. If the performance of the Australian coach took into consideration Constellation Cup, Alexander would still be the coach.
Unless CBass’ form takes an absolute u-turn and playing at another club or in NZL reinvigorates her career, I would be worried if her current level was enough to make the Diamonds for the next Comm Games. If Garbin, Bueta, Glasgow, Stanton, Dwyer etc. haven’t stood up as GS options to the level required by 2022 then we really are in trouble.
CBass has never looked like part of the team the whole time she has been at the Giants. She’s always done her own thing and kept to herself. Someone mentioned upthread about her travelling separately up to QLD, and that is a great example.
She’s far from my favourite player, but I have thought the amount of bench time this season has been odd. Yes, Austin and Harten have their strengths and it’s great to see Austin getting so much court time, but it’s still strange how little game time we’ve seen from CBass. -
