Magpies have recruited Kaitlyn Black and she is currently undergoing 14 days quarantine. Interesting. An older VNL / ANL experienced defender. ANL was with Fury not Magpies.
They have Brooke Allan and Sharni Lambden as training partners. If they are fit then Iām surprised they didnāt get a call up. Lambden did have shoulder surgery last year but if that is rehabād then Iām not sure what else she needs to do to get a crack at SSN – perhaps a new team for 2021 could be an idea?
Allan is a great young tall GK. As a Vixens fan I was disappointed to see her leave the NV pathway but also happy that she got a TP opportunity. Hopefully she can push through though and not get stuck like Lambden seems to have.Looking at the Magpies recent recruitment they really have focused on more seasoned players (VNL and ANL) as opposed to you g gun rookies. Jovic, Black, Bragg, Sinclair, Ryde – Allan being an obvious exception. They also had Ekka Bayliss and Lind training with them in pre season. Very different to when SSN first started and the first Magpies team selected.

What a shame, I would still like to see her involved in the Aussie squad though
Also itās so devastating for Magpies who canāt seem to catch a break with injuries. Every year they lose at least one player to a major injury
Interesting that they speak about announcing a replacement. Unless they want to put someone through 14 days quarantine they will have to be from QLD, WA or SA.
Pies only had 4 on their bench on Saturday. At the game on Saturday I was actually thinking that Browne would find it tough to make the Diamonds squad on form. Watson, Proud, Hadley, Scherian, Price, Moloney are all in better form. Then throw in a WD or two (Simpson and ..??) and Austin. So not sure she would have been involved with Diamonds pre injury.
Yeah I was thinking the same, although Iāve never really thought she would make national squads even when she did so she may well have made it. It also seems like the Diamonds are shifting to having two defensive midcourters (a WD and a C/WD) which would have made it even harder for Browne. In all likelihood only two of Watson, Proud, Hadley, Scherian and Browne would make it and the first three in particular have been playing better and better.
