While no netball happening, I’m watching dozens of old test matches. Currently it’s NZ v Jam at 2010 Commonwealth Games. It occurred to me that players might be relieved to actually have good umpires eg Sharon Kelly (although she was never my personal favourite, she IS a legend), but has any player in a post-match interview said “The umpires were awesome, they really allowed a fair contest today” or similar?
The commentators do occasionally say such things, sure.
AND when we finish a match and do the three cheers for opposition and one cheer for umpires, has anyone got an example of specifically complimenting umpires?
