I don’t have an issue with the team of 12. It’s as I would have selected except I wanted RBD over Aryang.
I am less rapt about the reserves. I agree with the sentiment about Price not balancing the needs of the team. Proud would have been my reserve. I also would have had Dwyer over Wallam but not a massive thing.
Rapt for Austin. Must have felt so far away when she did her knee.
I’m excited to see Bueta and Austin together. And Austin and Koenen was also decent way back when.
Starting 7
Bueta
Wood
Watson
Hadley
Brazill
Weston
BruceThanks NB12, I don’t think it was hard. Difficult choices were moving Bueta back, but she deserves to start; and, on form, picking Bruce when I prefer Klau.
I will add my name to those who think choosing Price over Proud was a strategic mistake, and I think, on form too. Scoop team of the week – Proud – 5 times, Price – once (and in Round 1). But the latter has won SSN PoTM a few times including recently.
I think Moloney got in over Price for a couple of reasons:
(1) playing WD in SSN games – I was calling for that for a while before Honey actually did it (I wonder if McKinnis would have done it if Honey hadn’t) and
(2) other Vixens in the Diamonds so experience playing together. With Dwyer missing out (sob!) I think Price is the only Giants player.I still don’t get why they’re choosing the team now when the selectors have talked about trying out combos of players who weren’t SSN team mates.

The CGA sets the deadlines for selections
CGA?
NZ aren’t selecting by tomorrow.
And from what Delahunty said on the ABC about half an hour ago, the players were told a week ago. If so, why announce Proud and RBD less than a week before that. Great for RDB as she made the team, but for Proud?
I have a feeling the ACGA is also playing their hand in this. If you go to the Aussie com games Instagram, quite a few of the other sport teams have been announced.
And even though Proud didn’t get selected, it’s still nice to be acknowledged as a Diamond. She shouldn’t have been dropped but she is back where she belongs and in the mix. And it’s worth $250 per day for her training with the squad in the lead up. She still has a lot to contribute.
Australian commonwealth games association decided the selection deadline not NA or Diamonds. Most sports have been selected already.
This squad is not just available for Comm Games selection but also the tests later in the year. Perhaps Proud has been earmarked for a debut there?
That is certainly what I’m hoping for for Proud. I think this is the squad for 2022/2023?
I don’t disagree with most of the selections, however cannot see past Price. I don’t know a lot about the international umpiring, but I feel as though JLP can get away with some heavy and IMO unnecessary contact in the SSN, I wouldn’t be surprised if on the international stage it attracted some cautions and warnings – which will probably lead to Marinkovich having to take her off anyway. Really feeling for Proud, I don’t understand why you would elevate her so close to announcement of the team, and she has 2 great games and gets overlooked.
The team has been announced and it is as was named a day early yesterday…
