All the best Ellie!
Makes me wonder who else could be retiring in NZ after this cycle.
Confirmed:
Fitzpatrick
Mes
KerstenWouldn’t be surprised if they retire from ANZP level:
Ekenasio
Mikaere
Saunders
Manu’a (back to Aus)
Elley
Malcolm (Seymour has confirmed she is likely back to UK next year)
Watson
THRSRRe Malcolm, I thought it interesting Seymour alluded to her being unlikely to return on Inside Netball this week, then in a Lockeroom article Malcolm said she hadn’t had any 2024 discussions with the Tactix yet.
In ANZ I think but have no info –
Ekenasio
THSR
Watson
Karaka
Saunders@Maryann not sure how much weight these have, but it was passed on from someone who is potentially in the know… but apparently Ekenasio is heading back to Pulse (husband decision), Watson on the move to the Stars, Temu off overseas (my guess would be aussie) and Crampton to retire post NWC
so if they happen it could lead to a whole raft of changes – oh I love it when the rumour mill starts lol
Good (potential) intel @Kerryn.
Ekenasio – would make sense. Commuting must be horrendous. However, if that’s the case the Magic are looking for a completely new shooting pairing next year. Anyone know where that awesome young GA has gone – blonde hair, can’t remember her name. She last played in 2021 with Bassett. Young gun. From a Pulse perspective I imagine Walmsley would have to move to accommodate? I don’t imagine Tiana moving again.
Watson leaving the Tactix? Gee whizz. But hey, good opportunity for Kate Lloyd to be a starting 7 player. I wonder if Watson leaving would also make Burger reassess?
Temu’s partner plays NRL. A move to SSN on the cards?
Crampton retiring wouldn’t surprise me. Her and her partner have done long distance for a while, she might be ready to focus on the next stage of life after a second NWC.
Further to the above, if Watson leaves Tactix I wonder if Burger would want to challenge herself with a move to SSN. I bet her signature would be in high demand..
Bird was POTM in her last game. Not bad.
Khiana Williams? she has had a bad run of injuries, and was originally named in the Central NNL team but the had surgery on her shoulder this year…
if Fisher is back from Steel, I would love to see Tui at Magic – she more than deserves a starting position.
I also think maybe Hume was mentioned at not being offered another contract..
I wonder if Temu would rejoin up with JLP at Giants – makes sense if April Brandley may retire?
bugger the final – I just want to see what’s happening next year lol
Oh yes Crampton was the one I missed, I knew there was another. She’s been indicating for some time that she is in her twilight as far as Netball goes.
Watson moving would be huge given she has her own house in ChCh and support down there.
Ekenasio I am not surprised, I initially thought the whanau would move up to BOP but I guess with hubby’s work in Wellington it wasn’t an option. Flying in and out to train and be away from the two children, or alternatively having them with her – with or without her husband, must be so hard on body and soul and exhausting to boot as they will want 100% from her each time she returns home.
Temu may well move over to her partner.
Manu’a – would she go back being close to SF? I guess if her partner is over there, well thats a really good reason and if she isn’t selected for WC (small chance but possible) then she could go back to SSN and try for Diamond selection.Malcolm became engaged just prior to coming to ANZ. She may well wish to return to UK now having had a season playing a different netball style and giving her the edge over other Roses players for future international fixtures.
Ellie Temu is a young player, and if moved overseas would then give up any idea of playing for the Ferns.
Jane Watson to the Stars???. WTF that would be odd.Hume could be a good pickup for Mystics, to replace Falkner.
These are some juicy tidbits. If I was MJA (Magic) gives you a real chance to do some serious recruiting.
Mason, Lloyd, K Williams and dear I say Nelson (Pies)…just throwing names out there.
Bird, enjoy your retirement and thank you for your contributions to ANZp.
Hume was in the Mystics in 2018 – she was very inconsistent then and I’d love to know if that shoulder surgery last year actually worked seeing as she was so suddenly benched for the Stars after some decent shooting earlier this season.
I’d love to see Saviour Tui back up here but she’d have to mostly play GA like she did when she was here previously.Would Temu have to give up chances of Ferns selection or has NNZ seen sense? You’d have to hope so.
