Wow thats massive. So will they start the season on -12 points? If so, I actually kinda hope they don’t win many so we can get a world first of end a season on negative points. That’d be kinda funny. Interesting to note that Thunderbirds did a similiar breach just not as extreme, but they came forward about it to the board, and it wasn’t found out under investigation.
Wow, these are massive breaches in comparison to what we saw with the Thunderbirds. Fever will essentially have to be in top form from the get-go, which I don’t doubt anyways.
A $150,000 fine is massive considering the current state of the comp and another $150,000 suspended is something to be very careful with. The docking of premiership points is interesting but seems fitting considering the extent to which the salary caps have been breached.I think the statement was actually quite short. In any other sport, this would receive much more attention and at least some stronger quotes from the higher-ups.

The 12 point deduction won’t be as big of a deal if Bonus Points are back, but these revelations are quite shocking. It seems very intentional from the management at Fever. It doesn’t surprise me though, I’ve always felt an air of arrogance from Fever and their marketing team. What does surprise me though is that they don’t really have a lot of stars; the only big name players they had in 2019 were Fowler and Bruce. When you compare them to a team like the Vixens, there must have been a lot of players getting paid a lot more who were far less strong than players at other clubs.
Yes, I too was astonished at how they managed to exceed the cap by so much considering their roster at that time. I also agree re the arrogance that Fever seems to have.
I can sort of understand the 2018 over pay, seeing that Medhurst was there.
But last year, apart from Bruce and Fowler, the other 8 are not superstars, so who is getting the big bickies.Based on who the coaches seem to really like, I’m thinking Charles and Francis are on pretty decent contracts and while ATN may not be on a large contract, I think her annual salary is more than what people expect. I still have no clue how they managed to go $160,000 over but this would account for some of it.
Fever are very lucky, they could/should have been docked more points.
This is just a total guess, have no proof of this, but I just reckon they were so determined to get Fowler and then so determined to keep her, that maybe they’ve paid her way overs. And maybe done the same with Bruce too.
Fever should have just invested in Donnell Wallam and developed her at GS instead of forking out way too much to keep Fowler
If bonus points aren’t back next year which I would assume they would be 12 points is big. But with bonus points it’s not as bad.
Either way they aren’t going to be minor premiers but could get through to the GF still.
Feel for the players as I really think 2021 is there chance. Fowler will be 32, Charles will be 30 (not to say either will retire!) and I don’t see Francis doing another season at Fever.
I guess for that bigger breach though there’s no other sanction, I do agree that financial wouldn’t have been enough.
West Coast Fever fined, lose competition points for salary cap breaches
I don’t blame them for trying to fork out a lot, to keep JFR (if that was the case). We’ve seen how they went, when they didn’t have her – not very good at all 🤷♂️
I’m also just guessing here too, but I’d say they would have forked out a bit for Francis?
Without having any clue how things work, but for any club bringing in imports, it would cost them a lot?
