Assistant coach leaves for another SSN team on very eve of the start of season.
Long list of young training partners with talent leaving for virtually no money and to local fierce rivals as well.
Young player promoted to leadership group then within a year sacked from leadership group and delisted – then reveals in media interview she had ongoing injury that club knew of and told her to play through.
Head coach leaves three quarters of way through season due to “player revolt”.
Two players from that list during “players revolt” – including one who broke through to become a Diamond! – end up delisted and sign for less money over in New Zealand.
Rumors everywhere in Queensland club netball about cliques, the outsize power one young player has (who has powerful relatives in the clubs administration) and a toxic culture.
No finals appearances or even particularly close in many seasons.
But yeah, totally nothing to see here. The report says so after all.
Thank goodness it’s all good after all huh?

Let’s be mindful of the firebirds players and how the criticism could impact them
The players have denied over and over again that they revolted against their coachI have seen comments calling them a disgrace, ungrateful, and toxic
Please be mindful of where you direct your criticisms and how they come across especially unfounded gossip
Netball and women’s sport/athletes already deals with lots of online trolling
Kamo via Instagram: “The way this played out is exactly why I made a complaint in the first place. There is a silencing culture (of women- shock horror) in this sport in Australia where if you have any opinions, diversity, courage- then you are othered- a ‘troublemaker’ while the people benefiting from the silence stay in their positions of power and control the narrative. Shame on you netball Australia for being complicit despite verbally confirming to me that the environment was ‘toxic’. Good on you for upholding the ‘policies’ that don’t protect your employees or the safety of our sport”
Wallam via Instagram: “So proud to stand in solidarity with @remikamo. You stood up with strength, courage and resilience some can only dream of. We know the truth and we will heal and move on. They know the truth and that’s what they have to live with.”
Some pretty powerful words from both of them. Hope everybody involved (specifically the two of them and Stower) is okay, and that this is a new beginning for the club.
Did everything go to crap, when Rose Jencke left? Or was it already happening?
I think it started when she was still there, and I believe her involvement is one of the current or former issues (that’s just my take on it).
It’s not right for people to be putting the heat on Gardener. There is no proof she has any influence in the playing group.
It’s all speculation coming from Kamo & Wallam. What I’m confused about is what happened? When rose was head coach bueta and Gietz were in the team they were making finals. Once they left they couldn’t make the top 4 and it’s like everything has gone to crap.
From a coaches perspective, what usually happens is when a team isn’t loosing it’s when you see the cracks and when a team is winning everything is good in camp.
I wish they could release the records, from my speculation is they just weren’t performing and everyone was getting pissed off at each other.
Though I’ve heard rumours about rose being the issue, but it doesn’t add up to me because everyone was fine with her when they were winning.
Also Cath cox did mention, shouldn’t be treating the coaches like that. So I wonder if that’s the issue?
After Remi Kamo and Donnell Wallam criticised Netball Australia's investigation into the Queensland Firebirds club culture, Liz Ellis has insisted player well-being is at the forefront of the sport's mind.
