At 26, Georgia Tong has made it clear you can become a Silver Fern later in your netball career. We follow the unorthodox path of @SilverFernsNZ No.180, who today could reach her next goal of making the Ferns on form rather than fate.#wbopmagichttps://t.co/T3XkqFLp6i

Thanks for posting this Ian. It’s a nice article, I didn’t realise she’s taller than Jane Watson. What’s not to like B-) B-)
I also thought, from all comments heard in media, that she was the shortest of the defenders. She is the slightest by far but speed is useful.
and I wouldn’t be surprised if she had a better vertical jump than Jane too
I think her and Burger would be a pretty good combo – Burger is used to Jane hunting so just instinctively drops back – if she can prove herself at this level – and if Jury can keep improving, may that be Sulu’s comm games spot under threat??
I hope for Tong’s sake she has that starting GK bib for the Magic next year, or even GD and let Rore ease her way back in from the back.
My concern is MJ Araroa seems to be a Mikaere fan. Give me Tong’s speed and ability to attack the 45s every day of the week over Mikaere’s lean and height.
For the last couple of seasons those in the Ferns squad seem to have had the starts in ANZ – let’s hope it does continue.
she well deserves a starting spot – I’m still kinda hoping (which I know that won’t) that they drop Erana and pick up a WA!! as stated above she’s there for her height and her lean, neither of which she uses to overly great effect!!! (well she does on the odd occasion which always has the commentators singing her praises!!)
@Kerryn was hoping it would have been Tong and Maihi in the circle together with Rore in front, or her dropping back into the circle if necessary.
Mikaere and Kersten feel surplus to requirements in this tea – especially when you consider Edgecombe the youngster likely to be getting splinters on the sideline all season..
@RMB just had a look at the match center stats and she was there for their second round match on the 20th March but nothing since then, maybe long covid? and not trying to start a rumour here or anything but they didn’t announce ACD’s pregnancy for quite some time (understandably of course) when she just went missing
She was limping quite heavily as the team walked into the Rotorua energy events center on Monday so I think it may just be an injury and hope it gets better soon
I did just do a bit’ve an IG stalk after by earlier post and she has a current story posted about walking round the Mount with Simmone Willbore – so possibly is just an injury – but an update would be nice (same with Khiarna Williams, would be good to know how her rehab for her back is going – like what the Pulse did with Gordon (but not with Elliot)
Kinda remember that last Magic game there was mention of Mes recovering from Covid and Tong out with injury but didnt mention what it was.
In a photo around about the time the season began Tong was sporting a fairly heavily strapped knee – right knee I recall. Maybe there is an ongoing niggle.
sorry whos ACD? just out of interest LOL
thats interesting i didnt notice her bandaged knee and i too did a IG stalk and couldnt see much hence the being nosey. again i dont like to start rumours but Khiana williams was included in the WBOP magic at the start then disappeared, looking on her IG too people commented on a car accident, maybe she was hoping for a quicker recovery than planned -
