Had to happen. I for one am sad. Was hoping she’d go to the comp in January.
So it has finally happened after a colorful career with ups and downs. But has finally won that elusive World Champion gold medal to end on.
Saw her debut in Jamaica 2005 and noticed her long bombs. Thought okay, she might be a problem in the future. š
I have said some regretfully hurtful things about her game in the past. But also witnessed her at her very best when the ball hits nothing but net. One of the only shooters in the modern game to turn and shoot from anywhere. Will shoot the lights out all game if you let her. She has had some fierce battles, Gerrard, Corletto, Geva, Ellis, Davu, Casey.
Ave Maria. Fairwell and smack that dickhead husband of yours. š
Massive congratulations Maria on a truly remarkable and long netball career.
What an incredible way to go out as a World Champion.

Another legend of our sport retires. In 10 years, never a cross word or disagreement, just that enduring smile. Even when we both knew I might have been wrong on the odd occasion! It will be your on court excellence and professionalism that will be my best memory of you. https://t.co/dmHONsFHQQ

Does retired shooter Maria Folau make it on to the all-time top 10 list of Silver Ferns?
