It’s interesting that Vixens haven’t taken additional TPs to Brisbane. If they are away for a longer stint they could be valuable. But I think NSW still have their border open so if things progress maybe they could sneak Honey and Coffey there.
Yes can play both GS and GA. Traditionally has played more GS but can definitely run at GA. She isn’t that tall for a GS these days so was always going to have to move out to GA. Has a really strong hold but is also very mobile in the circle. If I had to compare her to someone I’d probably compare her to Garbin. She was MVP of the ANL in 2018 then a Vixens TP in 2019 when she did her ACL. Unfortunately couldn’t play in 2020 due to covid (had recovered from her knee with support of VIS and Vixens) when there was no ANL or VNL. Had it not been for that Samason would already be playing SSN. Samason has great range on her shot. Shoots from anywhere without hesitation. Watched her play VNL a couple weeks ago and she is shooting just as well as when she dominated ANL. Super shot is easily in her range. McMahon acknowledged that Samason brings confidence on the shot from anywhere to the team.
IMO the best young Victorian shooter over the last few years. She is still only 23 and I’m really excited and happy for Samason.
Go out and smash it Rahni! (And you’ll stay in the 10 and get a contract B-) )

As revealed on Vixens Live tonight, unfortunately Emily Mannix will miss the two weeks of Indigenous Round with a fractured knuckle 😢
Rahni Samason will come into the team for our game tomorrow against the Firebirds 👊

Show starts around the 25 min mark of this video…
It’s unfortunate for Mannix but gives Vixens a great opportunity to bring another shooter in. I’m really excited to see Samason on court, I’ve never really seen her play.
I’m excited to see Samason get an opportunity. I understand why they didn’t do it but I think in hindsight they should have given her a contract even if she hadn’t played competitively since her ACL. She has a lot more experienced and is more developed than Barkmeyer.
Hopefully Mannix recovers quickly, she’s had a lot of finicky injuries over the year (I’ll never forget that finger dislocation). Dehaney is more than ready for the start anyway and I think probably matches up on Aiken a bit better.
Excellent – I have seen her name mentioned a lot and knew she used to be a training partner but didn’t know all the other info. Super excited to see the game
There’s something about this place! WHAT A WIN!
