Big question marks…
Will Langman be included?
Can Dunn reach the required fitness levels?
Gordon Poi and Souness are the future midcourt, will they all make it?Langman has retired. So while that’s sad, it’s a good time to look to the future with players like Gordon and Poi.
Had a good chat today with someone at the airport who is in the know.
There are going to be a couple of surprises tomorrow when the team is named. Fitness standards have definitely taken a part of selections. There will be some happy players and some not so happy.
Dunn, Ekenasio, TPSR, Wilson, Nweke, Mes/Faulkner (depending on recovery progress)
Gordon, Poi, Souness, Crampton, Francois, Winders
Watson, Fitzpatrick, Rore, Burger, Jury.I’m thankful Laura Langman has retired at a respectful time allowing more midcourt opportunities.
Nesian, pleased to hear NT is sticking to her guns regarding fitness standards. Maybe some unhappy GK or GS?
Looking forward to the surprises!
I feel there could be a couple of bolters. Mila Reuelu-Buchanan and Kate Burley, also a possible Kate Heffernen.
A shooter coming back from injury might be namedNo room for Whitney Souness, Temalisi won’t make it.
Baller I wouldn’t be surprised if fitness may relate to Centre Court.
Ekenasio, Wilson, Dunn, TPSR
Poi, Gordon, Saunders, Kate Heffernan
Watson,Jury,Fitzpatrick,Burger, FifitaMes and Sokolich Beatson if fit for early 2011
Okay so where’s the leak? 😂 There’s always a leak somewhere with team announcements.
As always, this is all hearsay.
It seems we are going to be light on the shooting end. One player in particular just missed the standards again but hit the standard required to make the World Cup team last year, unfortunately, those standards have gone up again and she has again just missed. Another shooter who had a dominant season and who some would have liked to see her named in the squad isn’t even remotely close to the standards and I think it will take her a very long time to meet those standards but she is very young so who knows.
There could have been a starting 7 from one team named in the Ferns tomorrow if it were not for the fitness standards.
There are going to be reappearances in the midcourt, deservedly, but probably not on many people’s radar.
In circle defender will probably be missing from tomorrows squad again down to fitness levels.
It doesn’t surprise me that Nweke is nowhere near the testing level required. She never looks comfortable even moving within the circle. When she does eventually meet the standards though she’ll be a huge asset for the Ferns.
The Dunn situation is wildly strange. She plays with so much movement, looks very fit and never seems to be fatigued. I’m not sure what’s going on with her at these tests, especially when players like TPSR who always looks quite lethargic are clearly passing them without problems.
Would definitely be a surprise return for Kersten if the rumours are true! Not necessarily a bad decision though considering Langman’s retirement, defensive midcourters will be more valuable now. Maintaining those midcourt connections could also pay dividends for the ferns.
Of course heresay…it is like playing Wheres Wally but with SF’s.
So we can say YMD has done an amazing job with her starting 7? Claire Kersten always sat behind Laura Langman (and Winders?) in the WD/C position.
Still hoping for some bolters mixed with old hands.
Noeline knows best and her decisions are always accurate as shown in the past. Only the best. Excited for all who do make it. But keeping in mind that those that don’t, will use it as fuel to become the most fierce version of themselves. They’re only playing the men’s team and themselves so it’s probably a good time to get fitter, faster and stronger.
Kersten to make a return?
She deserves it.Fitzpatrick, Dunn and Fakahakaou to not make fitness levels?
Nweke was never going to make the fitness level. Which is understandable in her first full year at ANZ
I’m sure there’s probably been something mentioned about the structure, but I imagine the Development Team will assemble and train with the main squad as well? Or is it just a paper selection?
Would hope those who do miss the Ferns 16 due to fitness still get opportunities to be in that environment (while improving their fitness) and learn about living and breathing a high performance environment so when their time does come that step up isn’t so great, if that makes sense.
