I don’t understand why the SSN has such a long pre season. They were back in training in November last year, for a comp that starts in May. That to me is seriously stupid. Feb should be the earliest that they are contracted from. Not 7 months before the 1st game.

I can see player burn out being a big issue again this year. The world’s greatest comp will finish, then the Diamonds will be straight into international Netball, Quad series then Con Cup.

That will finish late Oct, then the SSN be back into 7 month pre season.

In the article it says that’s one of the parts they’re looking at. At the moment, they’re employed for 12 months and only play for about 4 or 5.

And so they should be, the players were treated like utter crap in 2019.
One would hope the new TV deal from 2021 includes a early start in 2022 to allow for the Com Games.
Nobody liked seeing players play injured (Housby), be mentally stuffed, then get injured (Kelsey Browne) or at the end of the SSN be so mentally drained, that withdraws from the Diamonds for the Con Cup, (Steph Wood).
Speaking of Steph Wood is she back in Netball yet, as she isn’t part of the Bushfire game??

She’s been at the Lightning Trainings according to the photos on Twitter :)
