Hello folks – I was just looking for the Netball Scoop article on Liz Ellis and her recovery from her ACL injury – Google returns Liz’s tweet about it, but the link in that tweet now leads to a 404 Error on the site.
My oldest son ruptured his ACL the Saturday before last while playing up in the U20s in the NSW NPL Youth soccer game: his physio identified some instability on the Wednesday and an MRI last Friday confirmed it. We’ve now got a referral to a specialist with an initial consult for next Tuesday, but will probably hold off on surgery until after his last HSC exam on November 10th. Thought I’d send the article to him as encouragement and inspiration.
David – I’m going to check through an old computer to see if it’s stored on there (my Cloud service had a major hiccup and lost all my early work). Will get back to you if I have any joy.
I’m so sorry to hear about your son’s injury, and what rotten timing.
Even though you are going to hold off on the surgery, it’s super important to get him to a really good sports physio ASAP for some exercises that he can start doing immediately. His muscles will waste really quickly without them, and that will complicate and extend his recovery.
Liz Ellis found that small goals worked for her. She put a chart on a fridge with each days exercises, ticked them off, and celebrated when she reached small milestones.
