If Noel’s is coach again, she MUST produce a world class 2nd GS, one who is totally different to Grace, because at the moment, the Ferns shooting stocks are Grace and Meels, no one else is not even close.
Maia Wilson has sadly fallen away, Te Paea S-R has had enough, big concern who we have left.

When Grace went down at WC, I was hoping to see Ekenasio drop back to GS with TPSR at GA. I thought them running with Wilson at GS, with respect, was a weaker version of the Nweke/Eke combination.

I am liking what I’m seeing from Malesala and Heffernan. Hopefully if Metaurua can get her fitness up, she’ll be another option. Walmsley is also there, and I’m glad we have another target shooter if anything was to happen to Grace.

Sorry I don’t recall seeing it.

DNT always says the best group of players were selected and she has to find a way to make it work. She also talks about the “NZ” style.

I wonder if this is what NNZ will want going forward? Will they decide the style or leave it to the coach…

I’d like to see Noeline back with Rob Wright as assistant. He’s great in the tech aspects. Otherwise I’d like Akle.

No way what so ever to Rob Wright thank you.
He was assistant coach when Grace was injured in 2022, they failed to win a game after that, so to me that says it all.

I agree @Maryann. He’s already in the NZ system and knows some of the players pretty well.

Personally my spine for the Ferns would be Nweke, Toeava (fitness pending) & Karaka (controversial). I would build my team around them.

@mcleod any NZ team without Nweke (or their starting shooter)is always going to suffer. We just simply dont have the depth.
At Ferns level it will be different as they get all the top players.

The commentary team on Maori tv said Rob applied. Will be interesting, I find he lacks communication skills but is very good technically.

Noel’s needs to step away to regather herself. Her coaching has become very narrow minded. A year or two away from netball, then come back to coach ssn or anzp. Once she’s got her grove on she should apply for ferns coach

@netballgirl is it Noel’s who needs to step away, or the players need to step up their standards?

I have been hugely critical of DNT decisions over the past few years. But when you hear reports that there’s still top NZ players not hitting fitness standards, that’s extremely disappointing. Whether we agree with the fitness standards or not, it’s still disappointing.

I do think YMD would be a good pick. But I’m worried if the next coach is a “NZ” coach, they’d be inclined to drop such standards to accommodate certain players.
However if it went to someone like Rob Wright or Briony Ackle, I believe they’d keep or even increase the standards.
