      The last time the NSW Swifts and Adelaide Thunderbirds met was the final round of the 2018 Suncorp Super Netball. The Swifts beat the Thunderbirds in convincing fashion that day, by 28 goals. That was a long time ago and as neither of the teams contested the final series in 2018, they both had a long off season to re-group, re-gather, do some soul searching, and in the case of the Thunderbirds, get a sparkly new line-up that included a new coach.
