So much hype around the Matildas and especially now they are in contention to Medal. It has to be concerning for netball. I know there is already talk about it but they simply must do something to get into the Olympics in Brisbane…
Don’t know who’s watching but a big Congratulations to Portia Woodman (former Mystics player) and Raijeli Daveua (former Fiji Pearl at the NWC 2015) on their respective medals. Portia won Gold with the Black Ferns and Raijeli took out the bronze with the Fijiana Rugby team. Interesting to note, both players started out with netball and switched to rugby 7s.
I’m watching I love the Olympics, well when New Zealand gets a medal. And we doing very well so far.
Some great highlights so far. But it will be hard to beat these two for me… Titmus defeating Ladecky in the 400 and Jess Fox finally winning gold
Absolute scenes.
There are moments in the Olympics you remember.
This will be one for me. Brilliant.#Tokyo2020 https://t.co/qAWdv1MfTb— Sharelle McMahon (@SharelleMcMahon) August 1, 2021
Not sure how I feel about the outcome of the high jump…Can’t help but feel happy for both of the athletes – Tamberi coming back from his achilles injury, and Barshim finally getting his Olympic gold after two world titles. I can understand why neither wanted to risk getting silver, but I didn’t realise athletes could just decide not to do the jump off  Lucky they both agreed!
Overall it was an entertaining night of track & field – there was also Rojas’s world record in the triple jump and Jacobs winning the 100m, hopefully the rest is just as good!
Interesting to see that Sharelle McMahon retweeted it. Wonder what would have happened if back in 2010, instead of the longest game just going on and on into double extra time, they had stopped after extra time and said would you like to share the gold.
Lisa Carrington Gold’s today. 4 now in total. Surely NZ greatest female sportslady ever
I always admire athletes who take part in the Olympic Games. When watch them perform, so think I’m a complete failure.
The International Olympic Committee is throwing tradition out the window. What will that mean for Brisbane 2032?
