We’re halfway through the season and the new Roses programme will be starting soon. What are your thoughts?
      Who’s in your squad?
      Who’s not in your squad?

Jess Thirlby said they had a record number of players put their hands up for the pathway this year, so there will be some disappointment.

I would remove Kadeen Corbin – although good at club level, I’m not sure this translates as well in the International team. Not for me anyway.

I’ve noticed that the commentators have all commented on her speed for Mavericks but that if you can’t control it, it results in turnovers and it really does.

I would like to see Funmi Fadoju in the Futures (maybe in place of Ecuyer Dale as she has had more court time) as I really rate her and the work she does at Pulse.

It was interesting that when Bath played the comments were about Imogen Allison and how well her and Guthrie play together. Serena lifts and seems to play with no fear knowing that she has the backup of Allison – will this give her a big shot at the Senior squad? I think playing with the starting Centre as got to be the best way of breaking into the team! Saying that Beth Cobden has been causing all sorts of issues at Loughbrough – so glad she has come back stronger than ever!

Also honourable mention to Jodie Gibson – she has been away from playing for about 2 years now following injury and I have to say how impressed I’ve been with her playing for Mavs. She hasn’t dropped a beat having to move from WD to GD following Quashie’s ankle injury.

Definitely remove K Corbin – the time for that experiment is long gone imho. She’s making far too many errors, still, although is a bit more controlled at GS.

However, wonder if Sasha has been approached about rejoining the group? She’s been playing brilliantly, especially at C.

If Pitman isn’t playing elite level netball, does she drop out? If so, we have gaps at WA – so maybe elevate Christian and Carter? or add in Grierson in the Futures?

And as BB says, Funmi has been playing brilliantly – I’d definitely include her in the programme. And Rebekah Airey is surely worthy of a place in the Futures?

Yes I was wondering about Sasha Corbin too but they definitely need to be looking at youth for WA cover.

Iona Christian is probably one of the best contenders although she has mainly been playing C at Wasps. Bethany Dix at Sirens is a dark horse. She is very impressive – moving to Sirens has definitely got her name out there.

Kadeem is on my drop list too, she has flair and impact but not always in a positive way. But who would replace her?

Dixon comes to mind, but can she pull it off against higher calibre players?

@Fluffy, I agree we need some forward thinking when it comes to WA. Carter is already on the Roses radar, I do wonder why they didn’t chose to train her a WA.

Defence wise I think we are spoilt for choice,

@BB, agree about Funmi Fadoju and Ecuyer Dale

Gibson, Great to have her back, but not my cup of tea.

Shimmo, I’dike to see a BIG SSN season from her.

Personally I’d like to see Alice Harvey, Airey and Pavelin all in the mix too.

Forgot to say Parsons is also on my drop list. In the match against Pukse she was great but after that :negative:.

I’d replace her with Jessica Shaw

@jinxibo totally agree about swapping J Shaw for Parsons – and I’d forgotten about Alice Harvey. She needs to be in there somewhere!

Suzie Liverseidge GA/WA has been so impressive for Loughborough this year, much more so than Clarke. Such a clever player, and hasn’t been mentioned yet. Surely a youngster with a big future?

When are they going to have a full strength team, and when are they next playing.
I have heard that they might be playing the Silver Ferns later this year. But who knows

@scotty, Liverseidge hmm. I agree she playing better than Ella C. The shooting end is soo competitive. Rothwell is a standout for me

Ooh I love this sort of chat.
Straight away for me it has to be Parsons dropped. She’s nearly 28 and hasn’t been great for Surrey this year and not seen anything amazing from her at the roses.
We have younger players that could really benefit and develop in a full time programme.
If they gave Parsons time to prove herself I think Brie Grierson deserves time in the programme too?
We are definitely light on WA. I love Nat Panagarry in WA though, I think she’s great.

I can’t see Chelsea Pitman getting another cap for England which is sad but hopefully there’s another player ready to stand up in her place.

Alice Harvey definitely deserves to be there and we need some tall defenders. Maybe futures this year and the squad next?

Yes definitely not Kadeen, she’s been quite inconsistent at national level and she isn’t the future.
I’d like JH, HH, Fisher, Cardwell & SDL to battle it out for match squads.

I’d like to see Kira Rothwell, Olivia Tchine and Sienna Rushton to be the futures shooters.

I’m surprised Beth Eculyer Dale was in the futures. Seems almost criminal that she is there and not Funmi!!

Also I think we’ll see a big performance from Kate Shimmin in the SSN this year and she could easily get her self a comm games spot!

@EnglishRose, where have you been ?? I think Funmi is still U21. Tchine relies too much on her height, she thinks she can out jump everyone. She’s young they need to teach her to play GA.

Watched some of Shimmo play against the Firebirds, wasn’t impressed.
