Rav was just on SEN Radio (with Andy Maher and Bob Murphy). They asked if she has familiar faces as teammates for 2021. She said attacking line is the same except WA which is Lara Dunkley.
Wonder if Rav has spilled the beans here or if it’s based from season 2020Is she potentially referring to the attacking line she played with when she was previously at the Firebirds. Because Tippett will be back next year therefore Dunkley would be the only ‘new face’ to her. I’m not sure moving would be in her best interests, she’s getting has and probably would be getting some pretty good court time at Firebirds and good link ups with current and future Diamonds players.
Otherwise I am curious to know where Dunkley would be headed. The only club with a definite vacancy as of now is the Thunderbirds. But if there are a few retirements or key moves, maybe we’ll see her at Lightning or Swifts?
Dunkley might also go to Collingwood, they could have a midcourt of her Browne Jovic and Braz. This would also make sense since she is from Vic.
Yes, I thought about Collingwood, not sure why I didn’t type it above. That could be why Rav knows Dunkley won’t be around, could have heard about it from either Collingwood or Firebirds. But still, if Browne comes back in good form, Dunkley will be contesting for court time with Jovic and Brazill who was, in my opinion, one of the best Cs in Aus before her ACL injury.
Id say Browne would be WA with both Jovic and Braz C WD swings and Dunkley C or WA. They have genuine options in all four midcourters to manage the loading of Braz and Browne.
I really hope Dunkley stays AND gets plenty of court time.
I took it as Dunkley is the only change from when she was last there (Nevins gone).
Maybe i typed/worded/misinterpreted it poorly 😬Ohhh sorry, I misinterpreted what you were trying to say. Yes then that sounds right, I expected that Firebirds would want to keep her and that she probably wants to stick around as well. I’m interested to see which of Cassidy, Gardner, and Mimi are moving on. I expect it will be Gardner or Mimi just based on positions but I hope they both find contracts because they both have SO MUCH potential.
Was Gardner a contracted player or TP?
In 2020 Gardner had a full contract and Dunkley did not.
I interpreted Rav’s comment as Dunkley will be at FBs.
So most likely Mi Mi AND Gardner will move clubs. Gardner might drop back to be a TP though.
What I thought was interesting about Rav’s comment was that Dunkley had special mention as being new what about Dwan??
Dwan’s involvement with the Firebirds started in 2017 so she probably doesn’t consider her a new face
Bueta, Dwan and Aiken are all signed.
FBs definitely running hot with the announcements.
“We are really excited by the depth of attacking options this group provides and know all three players will have our Purple Family on their feet in season 2021.”
Shooting circle on 🔥
Grets, Didi & Tippah set to run it back!
