Hundreds of applications for much-needed sports facilities were recommended for funding by Sport Australia but were rejected by then-sports minister Bridget McKenzie. Instead, she used her ministerial power to choose the clubs and councils she felt deserved a slice of more than $100 million in funding, including more than $25 million for her home state.
About 25 years ago, Labor minister Jackie Kelly lost her job because she was caught doing just this. The current generation of politicians seem to have lost all shame or need for accountability, so I wonder whether McKenzie will suffer the same fate as Kelly
