I’m really not surprised. I wouldn’t been more surprised if they offered him a contract. But I feel like the overall culture and environment of the club is the issue and was the issue from the very first season. The coaches will get the most flack as they’re at the forefront of it but you can’t build a strong house with weak foundations.
Good luck to him wherever he goes next.
Yeah, seemed inevitable. I hope he can pick up a job somewhere else, maybe specialist coaching, because he has such a great mind for the game. I wonder if Lisa Alexander is looking for a coaching job….
I always found he called time outs, for no reason than to talk a load of nothing.
I agree😂the players would come back more confused than enlightened.
JWT works as Collingwood right? Maybe a return to coaching for her.
I’m not really surprised but I was hoping he could have one more year to see what he can do with new talent and returning players. Hopefully, this isn’t the end for him at SSN because he does have a great mind as recognised by his players, but he needs to learn to communicate his thoughts more effectively
Wonder if Julie Fitzgerald might get the boot from the Giants.
They have done nothing worthwhile in the last 2 SSN’sIt really went downhill for him when he dumped the Swifts. He has a great ability to build a roster and spot talent, but his ability to manage players seemed to be lacking in the last few years. I hope Richardson steps up, I’d expect she will do a good job.
So many people calling for JFitz to get the sack, did anyone follow the Swifts in 2012-2013? I’m not sure how many matches the Giants would win without Harten, Price, Brandley etc.
You think Julie Fitz is doing a good job?
She has been a brilliant coach in the past, but now I feel like she’s lost the touch for it.
With the lineup she has had, they should be making finals.Giants prob would have made he top 4, if CBass had played most games.
What is the stat on games played by CBass and Giants’ wins? And the reverse too!
I don’t think JFitz is doing the best job, but I don’t think she has been so poor that it’s worth firing her. JFitz has shown over the years that players travel with her, switch clubs for her and come out of retirement for her. If she gets pushed again like she did in 2011, I would be surprised if Giants kept their core. Just as they lost Cox, Bulley and Brazill, I expect they’d lose Price, Harten and Brandley. Price and Brandley could easily got contracts at the Swifts, Harten would be wanted pretty much everywhere except the Swifts. Sure Giants may have edged Top 4 if they used CBass better (although I doubt it considering they didn’t make it last year with Bassett AND Green), but that is in the past. In my opinion, JFitz is the one to take them forward and she has done a great job in building the talent of NSW Juniors.
Julie F is still a decent coach, but she has her favourites and it impacted on their season. Harten should have been on the bench more, but she stayed on. New start will be good for Giants
Not surprised Wright is leaving Collingwood. It actually looked like players had no respect for him during huddles and time outs
They need a coach who can build culture, someone like Taurua or Alexander.
Will be interesting to see who gets it and which players return with him not thereI do think it’s funny players have signed on not knowing who the coach is, also as the new coach you don’t have a say in who your roster is because they’ve already been signed
