Queensland Firebirds Head Coach Roselee Jencke OAM has informed the club that 2020 will be her final year in the role.

Interesting, other then the obvious controversy, I thought she was doing well this year and next year could have been special. She stuck through the tough years and now they’re really building.
Who are people thinking will take over?Wow, she did so much hard work and I think they would’ve made finals next year. Very odd, but at least there’s no longer a conflict of interest with her daughter?
I wonder if she’s keen to continue coaching or if she just needs a break. Maybe Wright as an assistant at Firebirds?Interesting. Didn’t see that coming.
Overall I thought the Firebirds season was great. With that experience and Bueta back they should push finals next year. Can’t see any of their players leaving so they should have a very stable team playing list wise.
Keen to see who they go with.
I think maybe her daughter coming through started to make it a little bit difficult. I thought she was stronger this year in her coaching and did an excellent job of not only developing talent but bringing back the Firebirds’ winning culture. Hopefully she is still involved in some external capacity going forward because they’re a really special group.
Gardner might struggle for a Contract next year. That has nothing to do with Jencke not being coach. Dunkley played well. So it’d be Mi Mi v Gardner for the 4th midcourt spot imo (Cassidy and Simpson being obvious locks). I would like to see Mi Mi go to Lightning and try to rejuvenate her netball.
Gardner has always stood out at under age levels. She dominated. Always was criticism which I would say stemmed from jealousy that she was where she was because of her Mother. Complete crap for them to deal with.
The most interesting thing is that in July this year Jencke signed a contract extension until the end of 2021. Something has obviously gone on behind closed doors at the Firebirds. The article is below

Interesting… I’d imagine it’s either a personal issue or related to her daughter. I think she was liked by the current team and she seemed to have a good relationship with them so I’d imagine this is a decision from her side. A shame though, this is a promising 2021 team and whoever coaches should definitely be take them through to finals or close to finals without any excuses
Oh and al_ex I should point out I didn’t mean you were criticising Gardner / Jencke etc. just making a general comment.
Has her decision not to play Mi Mi in Indigenous round come back to bite her?
Part of me wonders if Firebirds / Jencke released this today so that it would be buried by the Bassett story.
I know she has gotten heat recently, but Jencke revolutionised the Firebirds and I think she lead the way for the league in increasing player fitness standards and the professionalism of netball teams. I still remember having my jaw to the floor seeing how fit the Firebirds were in Jencke’s second season (and first full offseason) as coach.
That being said, she has been coach for a long time. I am looking forward to see what a new coach can bring with such a talented group.
The framing of this as a coach deciding to leave is just totally ridiculous. https://t.co/uDBvGE9ARf

Hmmm I guess maybe I’m wrong and she was pushed out. Surely the Mimi controversy wasn’t so bad that it would cause her to be sacked? Damn, now I’m really interested to work out what happened behind the scenes on this one but I fear we won’t find out for years as this is a coach leaving not a player.
Devastating! She has dedicated lots to the team over the years. HOWEVER!! firebirds has become the eye of public scrutiny for systemic racism throughout their pathways and in the elite level for a very long time! All you need to look at is how Amelieranne Ekanasio sat bench for her for 4 years never to get the chance, and then to make silver ferns the minute she moves to central Pulse NZ! And now leading the Silver ferns to a WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP! AND then the handling of the BLACK LIVE MATTER movement as a way of covering the BERYL FRIDAY sham on Sue Gaudions exposing their unjust systems to girls of colour in their program. lets not get started on their indigenous poster girl Jemma MiMi – She deserved better.
time for a little cultural education for not just Rosalee but also the NQ board if you ask me. but who am? sip sip sip
