It would be a step backwards with Julie Fitzgerald. Was an amazing coach, but I dont think she will do well with the Diamonds. We will see JLP in at C over the other top players though

Jane Woodlands-Thompson would be my pick. She spent the 4 Con Cup games with NT last year.
Even if she did show massive excitement when the Ferns won the 3rd Test.

Definitely JWT for me too. She’s tactical and ruthless, plus she now has an inside perspective on NT and the silver ferns set up.

Simone’s willingness to back local talent over imports will serve her well though i think.

I’d choose JWT as well. She’s a winning coach, she has professional sports management experience at Collingwood and she has a strong insight into the NZL program. Noeline’s exposure to Wood, Bassett, Browne, Mentor etc. really helped at the WC and I think JWT’s insights would definitely assist the Australian team going forward.

It’s interesting because I remember JWT said she would prefer not to return to being a head coach but I agree I’d like to see her involved in some coaching capacity with the Diamonds.

Interesting comments… but let’s face facts, the non Australian coach that NA would ever consider is Dame NT and she has other plans.

The suggestions seem to be appoint JWT because she knows the NNZ system or because she has worked with NT. Shouldn’t you be selecting someone who will inspire the players you have so they play to their full potential?

“Noeline’s exposure to Wood, Bassett, Browne, Mentor etc. really helped at the WC” completely disagree with that comment. IMO the Diamonds needed a strategy!
