A message to the Netball Family from @serenabob ?

Absolutely fantastic new but oh what a loss for England Netball – massive shoes to fill.
I think this will probably solidify Malcolm’s place in the team (I’m not a massive fan!)
Congratulations to Serena Guthrie, who has announced her pregnancy and imminent retirement from netball.
With four Superleague titles at Team Bath and captaining the England Roses for 28 Tests, Serena has left an incredible legacy.

Wowsers, didn’t see that coming. Big congratulations to Serena and her partner! She’ll be a huge loss to the England Roses – and I agree, this probably solidifies Malcolm’s place….
For some reason the site won’t let me edit my post – my other thinking is that we do have Jade Clarke waiting in the wings – and we all know how effective she can be. So many brilliant centre court options – and don’t forget Nat Panagarry either.
Congrats to Serena on an outstanding career!
Talking about replacements, I think it’s due time we give Nat Panagarry her permanent spot. She’s been so impressive and has improved over the years. I do understand that she has gotten the Roses gig here and there. But I’d love to see for once get that starting spot and not be used as a bench player or even an England A squad.
Agreed PICASSO123. Nat Panagarry has been rock-solid for Lightning for many years already and absolutely deserves a spot in the Roses. Unfortunately, I see Malcolm getting the nod over her
Congratulations to Serena and her family, that’s wonderful news!
Massive news that she is retiring, and that leaves a huge hole at England and Bath. Not just at C but also as a great WD option for England – she always seems to come alive and win a lot of important interceptions back there. As others have said, this is likely good news for Laura Malcom, IMO she is best as a WD so could cover there ok, although I’d love to see Funmi Fadoju included as a WD (and GD) option.
Congrats to Guthrie. Beats on her calling her baby Bobby ?. A family of Bobs.
An amazing servant of the game.
So.. who starts at centre for England? Clarke, Cobden, Malcolm, Pangarry?
Wow congrats to her! A loss for us fans, she’s great to watch.
Interesting to think that NZ and Eng have lost Rore and Guthrie respectively for CWGs. I wonder if there will be any other unexpected changes coming.
Congrats on a massive career. Langman has always had notihng but praise and respect for Guthrie’s game which i think says a lot.
I feel like this is a massive loss for England in the sense that even if they wwere 4-5 goals down with minutes to go in the final quarter you always felt like Serena could pull a rabbit out of the hat on defence. Clarke, Malcolm and Panagarry are great players, but i don’t feel like they could turn a game when it matters quite like serena.
Congratulations to Serena and partner. Another marvellous piece of news.
Netballcrazy – and for NZ Jane Watson.
Pretorius for RSA too.
Congratulations to Serena.
I do wonder if this is why Pitman was involved in a small capacity for quad series. Having an experienced head may help come CWG.
