Can someone confirm that she’s still available for the Quad Series 2025 if it’s held in January? As I think the 2024 international season for the ferns run from mid 2024(now) to mid 2025.
No. As far as I know, it’s all about the calendar year. She can play for NZ in 2024, but not 2025.
Silver Ferns shooter Grace Nweke announces Australia move

According to One News in NZ, Nweke didn’t ask for an exemption. She knew that she wouldn’t meet the criteria, so she didn’t try.
No active Ferns player fits the 100 test cap criteria..
Let’s hope the ferns are even invited to the quad series then
The decision to leave Bird out of the squad seems rather silly now. With Nweke out next year, having Bird and Walmsley as our GS options doesn’t look too bad.
exactly, now Noelines argument as to why she picked Mikaere and not Bird is not valid anymore. You can’t tell me she didn’t know Nweke was signing with Swifts.
I’m hoping if Nweke signs to a NZ team (supposedly in the SSN league) in 2026 her ineligiblity will be lifted slightly early.
I’m also hoping this was the reason NNZ turned down the players who did apply for an exemption knowing 2026 was in the pipeline.
I know a few people have been hating on Netball NZ but I can fully see it from their point of view. They have to make our competition the best they can and loosing some of our best isn’t going to do that. I feel the problem is Noeline yes she might have a mastermind netball brain, but when your head coach is saying our competition is crap and we need players to be in the SSN to improve then we have lost games before they have even begun. That mindset is not what we need. We need to have the mindset of making our competition the best, not trying to compete with SSN but creating a competition where our players are under pressure week in week out.
When you look at that Silver Fern squad of 28 players we have some exceptional talent. It’s time for our coach whom everyone is calling the mastermind to get stuck in and coach as opposed to saying we are loosing because of X Y and Z! We have the talent!
Who in her coaching circle is questioning her?? She has Debbie back who is her friend and of the same mould, Netball NZ has pretty much given her a pass for getting forth at worlds. I am hearing a lot of excuses and not any actual action on the right now, we cannot rely on SSN to make the Silver Ferns great again.
Look at Anna the pulse coach she was losing front line players left right and centre but she didn’t say ooh bugger it we will throw in the towel. No she said I’m going to work with what I have and coach them to go out and have success. Work with each players strengths change up my game plan and use that to keep winning. At no time did any of those players go on court feeling that they weren’t good enough look at Salmon.
I’m not saying that ANZ league is the same as internationals but Noles still have some outstanding talent to work with across NZ. I’m just getting sick of hearing excuses as to why instead of working with what you have and making that amazing.
Rant over haha
What a wonderful read steelsupporter.
There seems unlikely to be a Quad series in January next year anyway. What I find insulting to other Ferns is Noels and media saying Nweke is NZ best player.
No she is not she is a GS who happens to be tall, and stands by the post.
The Ferns lost to England and Australia in Jan when Grace played the whole games.Ekenasio is NZ’s best player and by some margin, she wasn’t at the Quads hence the reason we lost.
True that @McLeod.
Agree @Steelsupporter84.
.Matt Whineray: On why Grace Nweke is skipping the Silver Ferns
Chair of the New Zealand Netball Board Matt Whineray talks to D’Arcy Waldegrave about the sudden departure of Grace Nweke.
There are no current Silver Ferns with 100 Test caps – so would any player get an exemption to play in SSN?
"We have reaffirmed the importance of that policy for the strength of the domestic game and you consider each one based on its merits."https://t.co/c6StlpBb1F
