Well, well, well have to admit I would never have picked that squad
I’ve got nothing against Kersten but she was not in my team. Have to admit I wouldn’t have picked MSB either.
I do agree with the comments about Mikaere if any there is a favorite… I thought she was slow and a step behind play this season. The stats are interesting she’s top 4 for rebounds and deflections but not even in the top 10 for intercepts. Burley makes the top 10 for all 3, joint 2nd on 22 intercepts
I do wonder if Mikaere is in there more so as a useful training partner?
Eg use her reach against shooters, to really put pressure on them. Or maybe used in the WD position (for practice matches) to use her long rangy arms, to make it harder for the middies?Shooter Ameliaranne Ekenasio is excited to continue as captain of the Silver Ferns, well supported by Gina Crampton and Jane Watson as vice-captains in an experienced leadership group.

That actually makes sense TB. Because there wasn’t much that warrants her inclusion. Maybe she’s Noelines secret to producing better feeders.
Listening to Noels in TV today, I get the feeling she could be Ferns coach for a rather long time, (all going well that is).
Ruth Aitken was coach for about 10 years.26 players to choose from
Those above need to fight to keep there spot
Those below need to fight to end up there
They all know Noels criteria, so no excuses now, its up to each individual playerStill don’t understand how Burley is not in the 26. She is an exciting GD. I rate her higher than MSB.
Noels knows best thoughLike your thinking TB but then why not have Burley in the squad and invite Mikaere to the training sessions?? as I recall Wilson said she was invited to SF training when she was at Pulse even though she was not part of any squad.
I think her selection is odd but NT will have a plan
I get the feeling Noels chose Kersten for the fact she can cover both WD and C. She’s the only midcourter that can effectively cover both. Crampon, Poi and Souness are all attackers covering WA and C, whilst Saunders can cover all 3, is noels really going to put her at WD against the Diamonds- No. so that’s 4 players all in the same positions. Thus Kersten, who’s had a decent season, comes into the fray. And on form and the fact she’s part of the victorious Pulse, she gets the nod in front of Winders.
As for Elley, definitely unfortunate. I’d have her in the wider squad. But the days of being a specialist in one position are pretty much over- with the exception of a GS and sometimes GK. She needs to expand her play into the C bib.
Nweke is someone I know is not ready for international play, but I hope she not far behind, i can’t wait to see her unleashed on the main stage.
Jinxibu I wonder if it could be a budget thing, especially with Covid hitting. Maybe in the past they could afford to do that, not so much now?
“It’s been a dream of mine but this is unreal and I’m pretty much speechless. This has definitely come a lot quicker than I ever expected.”
Super excited to have 20-year-old Maddy Gordon as a member of the 2020/21 squad ⚡️
