Sam WindersNo surprises. I think most people will be pleased. Maybe slightly light on shooters but plenty of options.
A shame Savai’inaea, Lokotui and of course Burger aren’t available.
Is the number of trialists based on how many practice teams they are having? Seems a bit OTT having 27 trialists for 12 places, where realistically only 8-9 people will make the court in the crunch games.
Was Pederson available? The whole Stars team have made it into the trials.- This reply was modified 2 years, 5 months ago by Kwkiwi.
No Faulkner or Vui which is a relief given their mystics campaigns
Also, sad but not surprised that MSB not quite back at SF level

Elle Temu8 shooters, 11 midcourt and 8 defenders.
@HBHP glad to see Vui and Faulkner a no go as they have regressed in their plays this year and id agree that MSB had a very quiet year by her usual preinjury standards.
Youd think 27 is a weird number, prob shouldve been 28 if you wanna go 4 teams of 7 to trial?
I think Pederson was unavailable, i think shes now retired… again hahaha. Was a great season for her to finish on though if she has, played solid the whole year.I wouldn’t have had Toeava or Earle or Johnson or Hume
I feel like DNT has her spine players around defence and shooters.
Midcourt open season for at least 2 positions.
I feel like there will be a defined 4 4 4 split.
@ mcleod, agree with you re those 4 who are lucky to be included.
Be interesting to see how long those 4 stay, didn’t others get sent home really quickly?
I picked the players who I thought would be given a trial. Had them all, except I had MSB in place of Fowler.
Fowler has probably had a better/more consistent season but thought due to Burger being out, we’d see MSB.
Maybe a concern about her body not being able to hold up over comm games.
Guess same could be said for Johnson/Fowler too@mcleod Earle? Really? I thought for most of the season, she was the inform midcourter.
I’m struggling to see how MSB missed the cut. Yet the likes of Johnson, Karaka and Fowler all made it.
Agree about Falkner and Vui – more so Falkner. I’m a big fan of hers, but her reluctance to go to the post was a massive worry. And when she did, she wasn’t confident.
Over all, I think it’s way too much naming 27. That’s half the league trialing. For me it loses that sense of being one of the elite that made a very competitive squad.
I think Nweke’s injury exposed the skillset of Toeava and Earle. However, you do need to look at options especially in the midcourt to know you have the best.
I actually think 27 is a good number especially if you might lose players due to injury, fitness and covid. Some will be dropped and others could ready on standby.
Faulkners performance in the semi was a shocker. Under pressure she only put up a total of 6 shots and sunk only 4 of those. She showed at this point of her career she cannot perform at international level, especially with easy ball losses like held balls from hesitancy
