YMD should invest in Walmsley. She did the same with a young Dunn five years ago.. I actually think Metuarau is a very ‘giving’ GA and is able to strike up a great connection with whoever her shooting partner is – think Tuivaiti, Dunn, Fisher. Would be a good opportunity for Metuarau to show/grow her leadership within a shooting pairing.
@Nesian – maybe Joyce Mvula then.
I don’t think NZ needs import shooters, as you say there are plenty waiting for their chance.
The demise of the Mystics this season should be a reminder to teams to choose their shooting combinations (3 – 4 shooters) wisely. If a shooter goes down the rest should be able to step up and fill their place. Mystics lost both Mes and Tui who went off for new challenges (read better opportunities/more game time) although in Tui’s case it didn’t appear to work out for her.I can’t imagine Walmsley staying at Pulse if she’s not going to get the time. Why would she.
Agree with others comments around some lucky to be named as triallists. For a Constellation Cup or Quad Series I’d probably say yes to Johnson because she grows a few inches taller in a black dress. But unfortunately I don’t think her body can hack the tournament format where she will need to turn up day in, day out.
For the defence, the easy thing to do would be Taurua name the Pulse and Mystics combinations.
Midcourt wise I’m pretty confused. Crampton will definitely be there. Gordon should be there. MRB too? Is there room for Saunders? Maybe Heffernan instead? I think I’ll refuse to watch us play England or any of the knockout games with either Kersten or Winders in the team.
Shooters I wonder if Noels might spring a surprise or two. Dunn, Nweke and Wilson don’t go into two spots. If she doesn’t pick Ekenasio then surely it’s Mes and Metuarau as the two GAs? I don’t want TPSR anywhere near that goal circle.
@Nesian what are you hearing at the stadium re Steel? Is Fisher staying or going? Would love Bloxham to back in Tui. It almost felt that last quarter combo of Tui and Heffernan was with an eye to the future.
Does THRSR have another season in her legs?
Sorry am mashing this Ferns chat with ANZP.
Wow that’s a big blow for the Pulse with Dunn leaving. My guess is in her going to the Steel. does anyone think this would be to do with moving for more money? Surely Dunn would have been a tier one player at the Pulse on the pay scales.
Agree also that I hope Walmsley gets more court time next season wherever she goes.

@Nesian, i agree with those sentiments.
@WeWood, a bit harsh, id take Winders as a WD over the C position, she is definitely a match for any international WA i reckon and weve seen her do well as the SF WD. Kersten can have a great gane followed up by an average one so id leave her out.Is England favourites for CWG gold?
Maybe Dunn’s going to the SSN. Take her game to the next level and she has a long shot unlike many of the other GS in the nz league who can only shoot when right underneath the net. SSN would be a great move for her if Taurua chooses to overlook her yet again for the Ferns.
Kiwikiwi she isn’t going to the SSN or the Steel
Nweke to Pulse would be a good move. Having specialised coaching from IVD, would really help develop her game. She’d be a great mentor.
Dunn is definitely off to Chch and heard a rumour Malcolm from England is headed chch way too. With Jane back will be a very strong team.
Would love to know what’s happening at the Steel. I love Hu but I feel like we need a new more dynamic GK with a bit more height. Will Burley be back I wonder or will she head back to the stars for Anna.
Dame Noeline Taurua

5 of the 27 trialists have not yet met yoyo standardhttps://t.co/gH34NwLudO

Noel’s should have used the quad series to cement the top 12, not hand out bibs to randoms, she had a winning mid court in the con cup, but booted Poi for 2 C options who have failed for the ferns before.
At least she’s honest.. and saying what
I’ve been thinking. Maybe look ahead to our NWC defence next year? 😂😂Anyone have more context on this comment? Assume re COVID protocols.
“Overall we can technically name up to 20 in the team so there’s scope to name a 12 plus eight if those players as reserves are ready and capable of taking the court.”
Always feel NWC is the main show anyways.
Not sure about the Covid replacement thing, I don’t think it’s been announced yet what they can do.
The way the UK handle covid now its no holds barred and no one cares and you could probably play whilst infected 🤦♂️
Interesting that she commented that some of the yo-yo’s are very low, implying that they’re not even close to making the cut off. Have to wonder who those are other than Dunn. I’d assume Eke is a bit off at the moment?
