I think MSB has played herself into starting WD. But that would be at the expense of Toeava IMO.
For the shooting end while my four doesn’t change, while I was watching the final I thought would you rather go with Dunn as the reserve because she has a combination with both Ekenasio and TPSR. Even if (God forbid) one of those Theo had to be replaced, I think I’d back-in Wilson to be the third choice GA over Malesala or Metuarau right now.
Defensively, unchanged unless Watson is ruled out due to injury. For the reserve, after hearing Anna Stanley say Fitzpatrick has been playing with a meniscal tear surely Taurua won’t take her. Do you take Temu as No. 5, or a wildcard like Stythe or even Burley?
My team:
Ekenasio, Nweke, TPSR, Wilson + Dunn
Crampton, Heffernan, Gordon, MSB + Souness
Burger, Jury, Karaka, Watson + TemuI like your team WeWood – I would just swap Gordon and Souness around.
Yip I’m the same as you museboy. Maddy is a better C option
I think Earle deserves a spot in the team. I highly doubt she’d get selected, as she’s never been in the Ferns team before – so that could be a risk.
I’m still adamant that Toeava should be there. And I feel that her and Crampton will be in the team, even though that’s 2 WA specialists.
IF Crampton/Toeava are selected, then it leaves no room for Souness. Heffernan will be there. I would be looking at either Gordon or Earle for the 4th spot. Both play C and can play WD too.
I have Crampton, Souness, Gordon, Heffernan, MSB not in any particular order. Our midcourt is incredibly inexperienced (besides Crampton) and will need options, coverage and be competitive to earn the starting position. 3 of each WA, C, WD.
I still have Metuarau as a reserve because I feel like you know what you are going to get at an international level.

I think Toeava has to be in the final 12. SF’s haven’t beaten Australia since she’s been in the starting 7.
MSB should really be taking the spot of another defender rather than a midcourter. But who would the defenders would you miss out – only Watson if she’s injured and even you would replace her with Temu.
MSB is in really good form. But I don’t think the Ferns need her, as we have Burger. Karaka and Burger offer different styles at GD. As do Watson and Jury for GK.
In some ways, we are spoilt for choice in defence! If Noels is prepared to break up Jane and Karin, and have Karin play at WD, then you’re right, no need for MSB.
Tossing and turning on my team above, if MSB replaced another defender it would be Karaka for me.
In saying that, a couple rounds ago I also suggested Phoenix could play WD in front of Karin and Jane 😂.
I really don’t know.. oh well, not long to find out.
I remember 4 years ago the team got leaked to the media, and it was all a big letdown.
Hopefully not this time, as it’s really a I just don’t know who is going to be the mid court last 2 spots. All our comments going around in circles until the team comes out.
I’m assuming decisions and phone calls made tomorrow. Brendon Egan posts an article tomorrow night – thanks Brendon.I think Maia said she was hoping to get a good phone call on Wednesday morning. Can’t remember where I saw it though. (Regarding to when the players find out themselves)
Maia said in the post game press conference she was hoping for a call on Wednesday.
I assume successful players would find out tomorrow so they can fly to Auckland for the 1pm Wednesday naming of the team for media, etc., like they did after the 2019 ANZP final where the 12 were all in Invercargill.
If anyone is at Wellington Airport tomorrow and sees Gordon and/or Souness let us know 😂
