Have to wonder how DNT feels about Souness playing WA all season? Like mentioned above, DNT invested quite a bit of time into developing Souness C game.
Does anyone know how long the squad naming will take? I have an appointment at 1 but tempted to ask if it can start ten mins later
The names will be read out quite quickly then DNT will probably give an explanation plus some interviews. That’s what happened last WC. The show is 1 hour long.
Perfect! And the names are the first thing read out?
So the bulk of the players were phoned at 9am this morning. On the TV interview earlier today Noels said a few had already been told so they were present for media at 1pm.
There’s quite a process today after the phone calls where feedback is provided and person to person discussions – players can have a support person with them.TEAM:

Sulu Fitzpatrickso confused on how Peta didn’t even make the reserves???
Disappointed that Toeava didn’t make this team or even the reserves.
However I do like the makeup of this team! I’m backing them for gold. In saying that, I feel DNT may get a fair bit of backlash if they don’t go all the way.I felt if Peta wasn’t in the 12 she wasn’t going to make the reserves either because she’s a specialist.
Peta was never a option, 2 WA’s were never going to the WC.
Bang on for my most recent prediction of the 12, but got the 3 reserves wrong apart from picking MRB
Also McLeod without being present for the conversations I don’t know that any of us can say whether a player was ‘never an option’ in the selectors eyes. It’s very dismissive of other people to phrase it like that
2 specialist WA’s was never a option, Noel’s explains that in her interview.
“The work load of 8 games in 10 days” does not allow for it.
The need to have more options at C/WA/WD is the reason.I’ve seen the interview, she never said it wasn’t an option. She just reasoned why they chose players other the Peta, and that the midcourt was hotly contested
told you all that the Ferns should’ve just stuck with 3 shooters in the 12. No matter how bad the shooters are playing you will only see 3 max take court (we have only seen 2 shooters in the past 3 crunch games). And said this from the start: TOEAVA MUST BE IN THE SIDE. Crampton doesn’t perform her usual self under pressure (think back to the 2022&2023 ANZP grand finals).
the make up of the team should of been 3 shooters, 5 middies, 4 defenders.
Sadly this team lacked X-FACTOR
