They have the makings of a winning team.
If they can retain Saunders Crampton Heffernan Fifita SRicket McCollin and build their team around them.
Obviously, they need to get a GS player.Dunn will be the easiest to get. Invercargil girl and all. Will she want to leave Pulse?
Prosser will be a great shooter and I hope she can stay at Tactix, but Steel could use her.Halpenny won’t commit for a full season. O’Connell will be back mid season?
I can tell you they are currently talking to two players who would potentially change the fortunes of the Steel although I’m not sure how they are doing that when I thought they could only talk to their current roster?
If they don’t get at least one of these two players then some established players may be leaving Steel territory as well.
Enjoy the intel as always Nesian.
Must be Dunn. I hope they retain McCollin because I really enjoyed her play.
Ohhh do share! Shooters?
Hands off the Tactix starting 7
Also, isn’t it fine if players initiate conversations with clubs directly during this period/in season instead of waiting to be approached?
Pretty sure franchises are not allowed to speak with players from other franchises until September 1st.
But, this hasn’t stopped franchises from previous seasonsWewood, on reflection you are correct with that but as Tactixsupporter has eluded to, not all teams follow the rules.
Also, there is a tiered salary system for next season so players are going to find out where they stand within their own team so that may cause a few players to move teams. Five tiers in the system with two players per tier. This also means that some of the multi-year contracts that were signed by players last season are able to renegotiated or disposed of.
Wow, that’s massive Nesian and very interesting. Sounds like that tiered salary system will really even out the competition?
Oh very interesting regarding the new salary system.
Will see some big moves during the off season.I would love to see Nweke move and be coached by an attacking coach. I don’t think Wilson has the right ideas for that attacking end.
Yes, the tiered system will make things very interesting indeed.
Look at the Pulse, 6 Silver Ferns and Dunn. Who are the two level 1 players, who are the level 2 players etc? If Gordon or Kersten are level 3 or 4 would they look at moving?
There’s a minimum of $21k between a level 1 player and a level 4 player so yes, players from all teams could be on the move.
What’s the salary cap again? Tried Googling but could only find the old ANZC and Suncorp caps. Isn’t it about 350k?
While a scale is good, would think it would probably negatively affect those at the upper end who may have been on more $$ and will not be brought back down a few rungs?
If I recall correctly, third party deals are off the table and no longer possible?
Salary Cap is $440-405k but it’s a soft cap.
Third-party and Non-Playing agreements are available on top of their Tier payments.
Dunn will surely be sought after by a lot of teams, and she’s almost guaranteed to be at a higher tier elsewhere than at the Pulse. A Steel front end of Dunn/McCollin/Crampton/Saunders would absolutely challenge for the title.
Interesting that some of the established players would move without some new Stee recruitment. If it’s established players, we’d have to assume it’s Crampton, Saunders and THRSR, and I’m not sure where else they would be incentivised to go. Maybe Magic for Saunders and THRSR?
