What are peoples guesses for the club’s these players will end up at?
Glasgow
Cassidy
Shimmin
Pitman
Lee-Jones
Craig
Stanton
Eagland
StantonGlasgow – Vixens
Cassidy – Lightning
Shimmin – Lightning
Pitman – Fever
Lee-Jones – Not Signed
Craig – Not Signed
Stanton – Not Signed
Eagland – Not Signed
Stanton – You wrote twiceThe 2nd second Stanton is supposed to be Coyler
Oh right. I doubt she will be signed anywhere as its extremely unlikely she’ll be ready to go in time for 2021 season.
@NettySuperFan
Thanks for sharing your opinions with me. It’s so cool to get other people’s viewsI reckon your’re on the money NettySuperFan. I’m unsure about Pitman though – I think she deserves a contract but I’d still be surprised to see a club give her one.
I think that
Glasgow- Vixens or Fever
Cassidy- Lighting
Shimmin- Lighting or Collingwood
Pitman- Fever
Lee-Jones- Training partner position unsure of the team.
Craig- Craig I think will stay as a Training partner with the Swifts. She would probably in there 12 if the extended bench happens
Stanton- Collingwood Training partner
Eagland- Lighting training partner
Coyler- Depending on her ACL maybe the lightingI’ll predict:
Glasgow: Fever or Vixens
Cassidy: Lightning
Shimmin: Collingwood or Lightning
Pitman: Fever, Lightning or uncontracted
Lee-Jones: Uncontracted
Craig: Swifts TP
Stanton: TP at a team with less experienced shooters in their core ten so maybe Adelaide or Vixens
Eagland: probably uncontracted but if she wants to return home to Melbourne possibly could sneak something at Collingwood
Colyer: won’t be contracted however Fever will support her through her rehabI’d add:
Garrett: probably stay at Collingwood. It’s just interesting they haven’t announced her yet but have made quite a few other announcements (unlike Lightning and Vixens who are just slow all round – probably waiting on squad size confirmation)
Brandley: Giants although apparently Brandley has family in QLD and Lightning need another defender….. doubt it though as they moved home to have their baby so I will stick with Giants.
I’m also interested to see:
1. where Nyah Allen ends up. As a Vixens (and Allen) fan I wouldn’t mind her making a cross town switch
Will upset a few people here but at Teams Girl Cup in Brisbane last year I thought she outperformed Horjus… I think there is a chance Lightning could take her and have 4 shooters. Wood can backup WA and depending on who their 3rd defender is they might be able to cover WD… Unlikely but a chance.
2. If Ash Unie gets a Lightning contract …

@Tully
Nyah Allen is a impressive youngster and would be a good investment for a team looking for a shooter for the future. A Glasgow/Allen/Kumwenda would work really well same with Glasgow/McDonald/Kumwenda and Allen/McDonald/Kumwenda. I am looking forward to seeing how the Vixens shooting line will look!!! And also weather McDonald/Honey/Smith get a midcourt position.Garrets an interesting one. Lacked opuruinty this year and might be looking for a backline were she might be able to learn from the best or get more court time. Garret has already had mentor teaching her for the past 2 years so maybe she looks at the lighting were the best goal defence is 🤔 not sure though.
Interesting how fever have opted for 4 defenders + 1 defender midcourt. Maybe they might like a WA/GA player like Pitman. (They already have Emma Cosh but I can’t hurt to have someone with a gold medal)
I really like Ash Unie but the problem is that she’s almost a carbon copy of Pretorius. Lightning are in more need of GK backup, it’s a shame that Unie wasn’t recruited elsewhere. I think she’d be a better option for T’Birds than Blackman… Allen may end up as a Lightning TP with her sister and then find her way into the game day team. I wonder if many players will be willing to move for TP positions though. Considering how hard it is right now to find employment it could be economically challenging.
Maybe when we get the bench size confirmed we might see players like Allen and Unie move in hope of getting a spot in the 12 if they are 12 players.
I think Unie could sneak a contract if the lightning sign a versatile defender in the ilk of Shimmin, Garrett, Brandley etc then Unie can focus on WD (and back up GD). If we are correct and Cassidy is going to Lightning she is versatile and can play all 3 midcourt potions plus Wood can play WA. But it would only work if the defender they sign is versatile and as mentioned strong in GK.
