From what I hear it is not Proud leaving Swifts. But perhaps Garbin.
Oh wow big move and Swifts will need a strong shooter to be able to come on court well when they’re needed. The Giants and Swifts have a lot of shooting depth in the TPs and academy’s though so if they go with local talent I can’t see them struggling to find someone
Housby and Wallace to start. Try and get Dwyer (As she is better at GA than Letherbarrow) back as a contracted player. Then hopefully Letherbarrow replaces Bassett. Plenty of shooting talent in NSW and both teams will be fine.
Garbin like Glasgow needs to find a starting spot. Dwyer, Letherbarrow and Hodges need contracts. Australian meet all needs them to come through. And for Dwan to continue to develop and not go to the bench.
Singleton has been good for Swifts too, really NSW needs a third team for all its starting shooters, there are so many who need court time. I agree that Dwan needs to keep starting too. I rather Bueta as GA though so again not sure how that’ll go.
Collingwood has re-signed Molly Jovic and Jodi-Ann Ward.
Even as a Swifts fan I won’t be upset if Garbin moves, it’s her time. She obviously has gotten more court time this year but if she wants to make the Diamonds 12 I think she needs to be starting at GS, so Collingwood would probably be her best bet. Hopefully we can lure Dwyer back, but even Singleton has proven to be a really good option. NSW has great shooters so it would be great to see someone new get an opportunity if Garbin does move on.
I really hope Firebirds try to develop Bueta as a GS. She is very strong on the hold and I don’t think she offers any more down the court at GA than Dwan does. Her defence is strong but Dwan is also very strong defensively. Going forward the Firebirds need them both on court, and I don’t see how Dwan is going to be an SSN level GS.
Great to see Jovic and Ward back. Add in some new shooters and build the midcourters back up and Collingwood will be a force.
Bueta was playing GS in ANL with Wood and Ekenasio at GA. Won’t be surprised to see her there again.
excellent move by Collingwood!!!
Where would Garbin move to and be starting GS? I don’t think she is a starting GA
If Bassett leaves Giants she will definitely be signed over Garbin so if I was Garbin I’d stay at Swifts where she is getting court time, only move would be to Vixens if Thwaites retires but she would be in same role she is now at SwiftsI think we can be quite sure about Bassett going to NZL. Nesian never lies.
I wonder if Pitman will be picked up from another Suncorp team. Her husband is in Adelaide right? So might be hard for her to leave Adelaide.
I think she is still a decent player, but the only team that might want her is Fever. Lightning if Langman retires
I just saw a clip of Pitman feeding Harten and it made me think. With rolling subs it would be good for Hay too to learn more. Also Pitman has her parents in Sydney I think so may work well for her personally.
I wonder if Langman and Scherian will retire? Would be big gaps in experience there if they didI can’t see Pitman not being picked up somewhere and considering she has expressed that she wants to continue, even though it would mean living interstate for most of the season, she will probably take whatever opportunities come her way.
In relation to the Swifts know that Helen Housby has contract for next year but do any others. not sure whether the squad needs changing. for me would love Nat to stay if she does leave would go for Pitman with that experience she has
The Swifts can not afford to not give Fraser a contract next year. So unless Proud or Hadley leaves I wouldn’t keep Haythornthwaite. I definitely wouldn’t actively recruit Pitman, the Swifts don’t need more depth in their attacking midcourt.
Giants, Fever and Lightning are the three teams I think could really use Pitman. For Fever and Lightning she’d probably be starting, at Giants she’d allow Austin to really focus on her GA game and we might see more of Hay in C.
