Wait so does that mean we can’t watch free to air unless we have a subscription to one of the broadcast services? (From 2022 onwards)
I wonder what the impact will be on player payments? Considering the press release is touting the ‘security’ of a five year deal, I reckon the payments will be going down to a more sustainable level.
Kayo will provide a free channel which will have pretty much what 9 has had – 2 games per round plus finals.
But if you want to see all the games, you’ll have to pay a lot more for Kayo than you do for the Netball Live app. Kayo has a LOT more stuff on it though.
Mehhhhhh 🐑!!! Lost interest with SSN last year due to the two point shot and now this. As an international viewer, the Vitality Netball Superleague is my go to netball competition this after hearing that all matches broadcasted. Netball Australia and SSN have alot of work to do, international fans are losing interest 😩
As much as I hate Foxtel and all it stands for, Kayo is actually a pretty good product for general sports fans. It’s worse off for people who only like Netball, but if players like pretty much any other major sport as well it’s probably worth the investment. It’s far cheaper than Foxtel’s wider product. Even if Netball is the only sport people watch, $25 for the three/four months SSN will be on isn’t the worst deal I’ve seen.
Yes, I feel like we’re going two steps forward and one step back
I think this is fantastic, back when ANZ champs were broadcast on Foxtel it felt elite and like it really helped take netball up a level in terms of exposure and professionalism. Sometimes to me personally 9/Telstra felt a bit gimmicky..
Price point wise it’s more expensive however you get access to far more content and you could always sign up and split the costs between friends/family as you can have more than one device logged in.. or just stick with the 2 free games, finals and Aussie games which is what 9 provided anyway.- This reply was modified 2 years, 4 months ago by enozlas.
Here’s the FAQ after today’s decision.

Ground-breaking broadcast and rights deal heralds a new era of growth for Australian netball
Foxtel, Nine trade barbs over Netball Australia broadcast deal
I agree. Love the move to Foxtel. But for the people who don’t have Foxtel, Kayo is a great alternative option.
Plenty of sport on there for a low cost per month.I’m a bit indifferent to this decision, very glad there is a broadcast deal and netball is available for fans to watch if they choose. Yes there is an additional cost but at least we can watch if can’t get to games.
I do have a problem with the statement – This deal will see the same number of matches delivered free to fans through Kayo Freebies as the deal currently in place. – this is incorrect as you could view all matches on 9NOW (with only a 4 hour delay). I’m assuming you won’t have playback option on Kayo Free?
Not sure. You do on Kayo.
