I think the move for Lewis has been good because it has taken her out of her comfort zone and given her a fresh experience. She seems to matured a lot as a player and is looking very fit.
No doubt the opportunity will be there for her to return to WA in the future if she wishes.
Re. the Giants bench, someone like Amy Sligar has to be looking elsewhere at some stage. Parmenter, Price and Hay still have long careers ahead of them. Maybe somewhere like the Firebirds when Gabri Simpson retires? The other thing about not getting court time is people forget what you can do, which is not ideal if in future you’re trying to shop yourself around.
Eboni Usoro-Brown to leave Firebirds.
On centrecircle last night the only Vixens player listed as out of contract was Lewis. So I guess Queen Rahni will be at Vixens
I’d like to see Nyah Allen get a contract at magpies over Lind. Sinclair can cover backup WA. Newton and Sinclair also off contract but can’t see why they wouldn’t get resigned.
Centrecircle made comments that everyone would be after RBD and Firebirds will struggle to get all their off contract players signed up without a coach….but there aren’t many places for the firebirds players to go to. Sure Wallam could look to Adelaide but that’s the only obvious / clear option as most teams are close to full.
Will be interesting to see who Swifts choose out of Fawns and Singleton.
I was going to ask if Lewis is contracted at Vixens next year. I think Firebirds should target her. RBD and Lewis as the defenders :good:
Yeah Lewis might go there but also she has spent years getting splinters and finally found a home where she is getting very good court time and thriving in the defensive structures. Might be happy to stay where she is in Melbourne and back herself for starting 7 in year 2 as grass isn’t always greener elsewhere as seen with Dehaney.
Wonder if Kim Jenner would stay considering the GK spot is free.
Can’t see Jenner leaving. Where would she go?
I can’t see Firebirds having many issues retaining those they want to given limited options for players to move. Recruiting in may be difficult without a coach but they should do fine retaining players.
Won’t be much movement at all.
I really think the Swifts should keep Singleton. Aside from the fact that I think she’s come along further than Fawns, I think she’s far more likely to form a good partnership with Wallace. Fawns is more of a GS.
This is perhaps an unpopular opinion but I don’t think it would be the worst thing for Fawns to go back to being a TP for a year, as Barkmeyer has done. She needs to get a lot stronger and more consistent, so still being involved in the high performance environment whilst playing state league and ANL could be a good option.
Not an SSN signing but Sam Gooden has been recruited by Geelong Cats to play AFLW.
I’d be disappointed if Lewis left Vixens. They aren’t one of my fave teams but I do think she has grown there and I’m all for that.
I agree al_ex I’d keep Simgleton so not an unpopular opinion with me. Grew immensely over the season.
I agree, they should keep singleton. Housby can play that GA/GS swing player if needed.
Is Dehaney on a 1 or 2 year contract? She needs to move lightening are not helping her develop whatsoever. Hopefully she can take that GK spot at firebirds.
I have a feeling firebirds will also keep wallam and demote shower, George wouldn’t be too far off retirement.
