I’m not sure if I am in the minority, but I haven’t warmed up to the supershot and still hate it. I also think the changes to international rules had a negative impact on our performance at the constellation cup. With Comm Games and World Cup cycle coming up SSN may not be in our international best interests.

You’re not alone, I totally agree. Especially because the subs during the super shot period disturb what would usually be a full fifteen-minute quarter for players. I think it definitely has the potential to cause some problems come time for Comm Games and World Cup.

Fingers crossed Australian netball gets to a point where they don’t have to compromise the rules of the game (this majorly) to get sponsor and broadcast supprt.

You are certainly not alone in that feeling. I have not warmed to the super shot.

I have always watched both the ANZP and SSN and enjoyed doing so. I still enjoy watching the SSN, but when there is a tight game, the ANZP is far better viewing now as there is no super shot.
How compelling the super shot makes games is so varied. In some games the super shot can be exciting, but often it is just a lot of broken play or easy 1 point goals for a shooter under the post.

I don’t mind the super shot in and of itself, but I hate how easy it is, how it’s different from the international rules and how it can quite drastically change results. If they just made it the Fast 5 two point shot I would be more on board.

It will be interesting to see if it affects the Diamonds. It didn’t really seem to at Constellation Cup, but most of the Australian shooters and “super-shot specialists” except for maybe Austin but she has a lot more to contribute than just long shooting. The constant timeouts seem to be more of an issue.

Oh its nice being around like minded netball fans who actually like the game without the “crowd chasing” embellishments!
I totally agree al_ex with the rolling substitutions (and time outs) impacting us at international level – our players are not 15 minute match fit and I think it shows – when momentum changes they are not used to having to respond/grind it out.

I don’t like it either. It makes the last 5 minutes of the quarters often chaotic and all good netball goes out the window.

Don’t forget the changes to the short pass rule of  there was definitely an issue with that during the Con Cup.

I was very surprised with the Diamonds being confused about the new short pass rule.
It was used widely in the 2020 ANZ, did Netball Aus miss the boat on the update.
