Actually really disappointed with this signing. Halpin deserves the final spot. I understood last year bringing in Rore as they needed a match winner and all other WD options were signed or injured but this year it should have been Halpin
I assume she will be a replacement player again until Moore is back along with Fraser for Proud but really disappointed that they both didnβt get contracts. Especially Halpin who I think is just as good as CullenYeah very interested to see what happens to Fraser and Halpin, both so strong and have bright futures, sad they both miss out on contracts but let’s see what Cullen can bring to the line-up, hopefully she is getting back into top form. It is actually kind of weird considering she didn’t play after her debut and Halpin and Fraser stuck around… if you kept Halpin for finals why pick Cullen over her now? Maybe they wanted more experience in the defence?

I hope she can do it and do it well. I wonder where that leaves her with regards to playing for NZ. Guess we will wait and see. Maybe thats why she hasn’t been here playing for the NZA.
I think/hope NZ giver her an exemption. Cullen was never part of the team that was meant to play for NZA in the recently passed tournament but was rather part of the wider squad as far as I know.
Halpin was kept as she was a permanent replacement player for Moore so couldnβt be taken out. Fraser was a temp replacement for Proud but they needed an attacker so couldnβt keep Cullen at that time and Rore was a better option out of the 2 when they needed a replacement for Eddy
Thanks for that Netballcrazy. If Cullen gets an exemption then maybe there’s a chance NNZ will allow more players in the SSN in following years.
Disappointing. Halpin and Fraser miss out on full contracts. Swifts have 4 imports.
I think Cullen was named in the NZA team on 23/9 but obviously didnβt play so maybe no exemption for her, well not yet anyway.
I had mixed feelings about this signing, which had nothing to do with Cullen but so much wanting Halpin to be named. Gotta trust Briony.
This is a really disappointing signing in my opinion. I think Cullen would be a good option as Moore’s replacement player but Halpin really deserves that full-time wage and opportunity to develop as a contracted player. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Swifts bring Moore back really slowly as Halpin is better and more useful, but regardless it’s tough for her to be a training partner again. Fraser worries me less as she will still get plenty of time with Proud coming back from her ACL and she will surely take Haythornthwaite’s spot in 2021 if she continues developing as she has.
Meh not excited, shame for Halpin. Cullen will have to work harder than ever before.
I don’t see Netball NZ giving her a exemption. We are doing fine in the defence dept at the moment.
Anyway good luck hope it goes well.I with everyone, Halpin should have been given a chance. Do training partners get paid?
Good on ya Cullen. π Never mind the exemption. It’s a non event next year anyway. She’s looking fit and good to go. Akle will bring the best out of her I’m sure. Good to see our kiwi girls getting in on the money over there.
I honestly would love to see Jane Watson in the SSN one day.
Nope training parters don’t get paid. Halpin would have earned a wage last year as she was named as a permanent replacement player.
I think the signing of Lauren Moore for 2020 is the reason why Cullen was picked. They need a backup circle defence option who is experienced at the top level and Cullen is a great GD. Lauren Moore isn’t quite at that level yet, but could well be in a few years.
If Moore wasn’t signed then they probably could have picked both Cullen and Halpin.
