Re: Nweke. I haven’t watched any of the games so haven’t seen her do it, and I can’t recall any of the international games, however will be interesting to see if any umpires deem it delaying returning the ball for the centre pass.

Honestly so difficult to be a firebirds fan

Dwan and Moore can both shoot super shots??? Why on earth not put one of them on in that last quarter so frustrating

          Full time: LIG 43-41

Exciting game, in the balance right till the final seconds, but Lightning comes out just on top against Firebirds.

Lara Dunkley suffered a hand injury (possibly a dislocated finger?) as the match finished. Hopefully, she’s okay.

Can the Vixens please try an Eddy -Weston circle. Ellis is jumping and she is nowhere near it.

              Full time: VIX 47-34

Vixens ran away with things in a dominant second half to comfortably take 5th place over Giants. Hannah Mundy and Kiera Austin both had strong games.

Good growth shown by the Vixens since the Riverina games where they were patchy at best and lost twice to Giants.

Caris has improved a lot over the pre season. Did more in her first 3 minutes than Ellis did in the first 3 quarters. Still think they need to try Weston-Eddy in the circle either Moloney or Walters can run WD. Nice to see Tara Watson get on, shame she didn’t get on more. She is super fit and strong and plays all three midcourt positions so looks like she might be their 11th?

Austin remains the Vixens barometer and is easily their MVP. Graham is wonderful at GS and think the Austin -Graham combo will give them a nice change up this year but you can definitely tell that GA is a WIP.

For Giants O’Brien continues to show great work. Struggles more against the moving circle. I really like Hope White but she was outplayed by Walters then Eddy today, still will give the Giants good midcourt options this season. I actually thought Giants were looking better earlier in the pre season.

Parmenter is proving a revelation in C. Although not sure it’d work with Cardwell in shooter as opposed to the target of Jok. Actually can’t see where Cardwell fits in this line up though.

I’d be feeling nervous if I were Fawns or Smith, big targets for Whyte to replace. I love seeing young players develop and the confidence Whyte has from last season to now is phenomenal, such a shame she didn’t get a contract. I’m still unsold on the Simmons signing.

                      Full time: SWI 51-49

What a game. Swifts win a thriller after a seesawing last quarter. Helen Housby sealed it with 2 crucial super shots. Swifts got all 12 players out on court, while Mavs made only 2 changes.

Totally agree with OBrien comment but she’s the better option of the 2 GKs, Hope White is a good prospect but totally schooled today by Vixens, but she offers something different to Hay who IMO was almost best player for Giants , the shooting end looks a major worry tho, Dwyer much better with Letherbarrow, but Matisse needs to get a bit more physical, Harten accurate under post but movement very questionable,

                          FINAL:

                          1/2 time: FEV 23-15

A great second quarter from Fever as they take an 8 goal lead into halftime in the final. Lots of unforced turnovers against Tbirds. Sunday Aryang has been great for Fever and Latanya Wilson for Tbirds.

Tbirds might the only team strong enough to take on the curse.

                              Full time: THU 38-37

Thunderbirds win it!!! Fever led for much of the game, but Georgie Horjus seals victory with a goal in the final seconds. Now, can the Tbirds be the first TGC winner to go on and take out the premiership?

Latanya Wilson a very deserved Player of the Grand Final. 7 gains, 5 intercepts, 6 deflections, 2 rebounds.

TBirds will take some stopping. No Sterling or Aiken, n still get the job done. Wilson and Horjus were outstanding.

Really happy to see Casey play well today. Thought she struggled a little against Lightning but she is such a talented young player so wonderful to see her response. Is she their 11th player? Hope so, with a contract hopefully not far off.

No idea why Dan brought Kumwenda on at the end. She just ran around and created a mess. This is what she was doing at Vixens in her last season and really she should not be out of the circle.

Australia’s WYC team is going to be something special.

Wilkinson, L Graham, Whyte and Otai in goals. White and Casey in the middle with Aryang, Delaney and Packer in defense.
