Apparently Nicola Smith is off to Manchester Thunder in a straight swap with Van Der Merwe who is headed to Lightning.

@Waylay, I hope not. Can’t remember when Van Der Merwe last played a full game. I’d prefer McCormick(?) She’s a strong player and still learning.

Don’t Thunder have a current Roses U21 defender in their pathway? Would like to see her given a chance

@jinxibo Thunder has a wealth of future of England defensive talent, with Ella Bowen, Elia McCormick and Yomi Wilson all in the future Roses – but I guess with the reduced squad sizes, they’re not all going to get a run…..

Thanks @fluffy, Yomi Wilson is who I was thinking of. If Funmi does leave Pulse, I hope we can pick up Yomi or Elia

Oh interesting, this is a nice move for Mikki. I didn’t think we’d see her again.

Where are all you NSL watchers??

I want to speculate about the new line up???

I think we’ll only see a few imports this year now that we only gave squads of 10.

I also wonder if Peace, Joyce, Kadeen, Geva and O’Hanlon will get contracts ??

Will Tchine and Funmi get picked up by SSN?

What will Bath hammer do on Saturdays with no NSL team to rant about ♡♡

@jinxibo – I’m here – and just not very excited by it all yet!

Squads of 10 is such a backward step imho – how do you develop people when the opportunities are actively reduced? And as we’ve seen in SSN with Mavericks, a couple of injuries in squads of that size can wipe out your season completely.

Would hope that Leeds keep their line up as they were starting to settle and push on towards the end of the season, but it’s going to be hard for Peace and especially Kadeen to find new homes as there are a lot of good shooters already settled, and loads with a better attitude than Kadeen.

The whole thing is really “meh” in my book: maybe it’s because it’s so Midlands-centric, and I’m also a bit underwhelmed by Nelson and all her word salad interviews, but I can’t seem to get excited about it at the moment. Maybe the Olympics will get me going again! 😉
