It's the latest of Noeline Taurua’s enlightened outside-the-box moments – getting her old nemesis, former Adelaide Thunderbirds coach Jame Woodlands-Thompson, to help the @SilverFernsNZ beat the Aussie Diamonds. 2nd test tonight @SparkArenaNZ. @diamondkirf https://t.co/4HOaxSM8Ma

Who knows what the politics are that happen in Australian Netball.
But I find it very strange that when NA and/or LA decided to change up the Diamonds coaching staff after the Commonwealth Games they went with Ferguson and Anderson, both with very little Coaching experience and no Head Coach experience at all. As opposed to JWT and her winning record. Or maybe JWT wasn’t happy switching roles with LA?It will be interesting to see who succeeds LA after her contract expires next year if she decided to call time. JWT and Jencke seemed to be the two likely options. But maybe not now after the last 2 seasons Jencke has had at FBs she seems to have run out of ideas and perhaps this stint might put JWT on the outer with NA.
JWT seems to me a Coach of the same style as NT and with her proven record and I’m surprised she hasn’t moved into some sort of role with NA. But her current role at Collingwood is more Management/Administration so perhaps the area she wants to move into.
JWT was always my favourite coach (across both sides of the tasman) in the ANZ champs days. I think the doco “the code” on you-tube helped endear me to her – very insightful into her preparation and style of coaching during the 2012 season (i think?).
Medhurst didn’t have great things to say about her towards the end….but that seems to have become a bit of a pattern so i wouldn’t take it too seriously.
If Noels does not continue after January I would not be surprised if JWT is appointed and NNZ is just getting us used to seeing her on the Ferns bench!
I still find it weird but she is such a great coach that never got the chance at coaching Diamonds.
Going forward, hopefully NZ can retain Noels, Debbie and Jane WT.
What is strange for me, is that Lisa chose 2 assistant coaches that had little to no coaching experience. Ferguson especially.
Here’s hoping NNZ are thinking about long term and can continue to develop coaches and a solid high performance program.
Will be great to see all the ANZ head coaches and assistant coaches continue to work closely with Noels.
Main emphasis should be on fitness and conditioning.Medhurst didn’t have great things to say about her towards the end….but that seems to have become a bit of a pattern so i wouldn’t take it too seriously.
Hmmmm. Medhurst, Mentor, Bulley, Jasmine Keene, Khao Watts was never given an opportunity under JWT but blossomed elsewhere. I see a pattern, but not the one Monty is referring to
JWT was asked about coaching in the Inner Circle podcast and she said it isn’t something that she wants to do again fulltime.
