Fair conversation but I think the discussion was missing a few extra facts regarding travel exemptions and how the Vixens couldn’t select just any replacement players to come in (had to be from certain states) so that probably could have been depicted a bit better using more detail (information which is a bit hard to come by in this situation). LA also said they ‘broke the rules’ but it was a bit confusing to she was referencing initially, between the travelling players breaking the rules or the Vixens refusing the game. But all in all, great conversation about how the SSN and board needs to take control in these matters.
Interesting points
– will be some sort of investigation into the matter
– fever have received some sort of compensation for losing a home game
– representatives from other clubs have also been upset by Fever’s conductMy doubts about the suitability of Stacy M as Diamonds coach have increased. How will this have affected her relationship with the Vixens players who are part of the Diamonds squad? With both Jo and Kate making posts about their side of the situation it really looks like Stacy and Fevers statements and the consequent social media storm have impacted them. The behaviour of Fever, Stacy and Sue G was reckless. It prompted aggressive, rude and disrespectful posts by some Fever fans (though many Fever fans did call them out on the statement) and could have a negative impact on the mental health of the Vixens players who are already vulnerable due to their unplanned and lengthy stint away from home.
I think it was foolish of NA to allow Stacy to continue as Fever coach this season. There are clear conflicts of interest and she does not seem to be able to manage them.
totally agree, my concerns also increased as a result of this situation. Surely there is no way that the relationship SM has with those Vixens players is completely unaffected by her and the club’s behaviour.

Someone said this over the weekend – the season is hanging by a thread.
This in The Age this morning:
People going to WA from NT, ACT, Vic and QLD will have to quarantine for 14 days. There’s a hard border with all of NSW.
This coming weekend Fever has a game on the East Coast. It’s scheduled for Sydney but I assume it’ll be moved to QLD. Then Fever have 3 home games. WA government will have to give Fever an exemption from the quarantine. Or Fever will have to move to QLD for the rest of the season.

Not sure how the Magpies will be able to travel to SA. Since they have been in Qld.
My hope is that if the league does go into a hub (which at this point is likely) then hopefully they have squads of 12 again
I think it’s increasingly likely that the season will be paused. SSN doesn’t have the funds to adapt as quickly as the AFL and NRL.
If there is another hub who is funding it? The QLD government contributed last year.
Considering how poorly organised the SSN appear to be regarding logistics and contingencies my guess is they are currently scrambling.

SSN is just not acting like a professional organisation. I don’t know what needs to change but this has become increasingly obvious over the past few years, it feels like any other state organisation at this point.
Its been announced that Giants vs Firebirds will be played at Nissan arena with full crowds. Masks and social distancing required.
Fever vs Swifts will also be played at Nissan but behind closed doors in accordance with NSW Covid restrictions.
Hi Maryann, do you mean QLD Covid restrictions? I thought Nissan Arena is in Brisbane.
And re Fever, will WA be giving the team an exemption from quarantining when they return to WA to play their next 3 home games. If so, why couldn’t they give the whole Vixens team an exemption to travel to WA for yesterday’s (now) postponed game.

Erin DelahuntyGood article.
Looking forward to seeing how they sort out the postponed game. It’s currently scheduled for 1st August when Vixens are playing T’Birds in Adelaide at 3am.
What a mess. Get thee in a hub (in Tassie?) ASAP.
JR I thought that too but the article when I read it said NSW – maybe its like in NZ, travel and take your level restrictions with you. I’ll try and find the article.
