The four @SuperNetball sides in Qld; Swifts, Lightning, Giants and Firebirds are Melbourne-bound, I understand. Fixture as planned. Hopes/plan for Thunderbirds v Pies to go ahead in Adelaide. Not clear re Fever as believe waiting from Vic authorities.

Netball NSW can confirm that the NSW Swifts are tonight being flown from Brisbane to Melbourne. A further statement will be made tomorrow. At this time the well-being of our athletes and staff is our primary concern.

West Coast Fever depart for Melbourne
West Coast Fever will depart Perth tonight for Melbourne to play the NSW Swifts this weekend following the relocation of the Round 9 Suncorp Super Netball fixture to avoid COVID-19 lock-downs.
Fever’s Round 9 game against the NSW Swifts was originally scheduled to take place in Sydney this Saturday, July 3.
The Swifts relocated to Victoria today along with the GIANTS, Sunshine Coast Lightning and Queensland Firebirds to allow the 2021 season to proceed due to COVID-19 lock-downs in New South Wales and Queensland.
West Coast Fever will work with Netball Australia and NSW Swifts to finalise the details of the fixture in Melbourne and provide an update as soon as possible.
The Club continues to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 situation and the impact on the 2021 Suncorp Super Netball Season.
LOL the irony
Would have been more ironic if VIC authorities had not let them in. Obviously VIC authorities taking the moral high ground though.
Got to feel for these teams. Surely they can’t just keep relocating at barely any notice. Per the Swifts’ announcement, player welfare anyone?
How did this impact Rav as a Mum? Are Georgie and her mum with her? I did spot Ruby Bakewell-Doran on IG so FBs have taken at least one TP. I hope that Brandley and Clay are okay as well.
You’d imagine games will be played at SNHC if there are no crowds. Will incur operational costs but at least no rent / hire cost and can piggy back off the VNL set up. But how is the Reno going? Maybe Ballarat or Bendigo could get a game if allowed.
The irony is not lost on anyone…… wow Fever look even more silly now.
It looks like they all got chartered flights to Melbourne so I guess SSN may be a little more committed (or potentially financially stable?) to at least throw a bit of money in to keeping this season alive.
Player welfare is so important and maybe because we are already so far in to the season, and whilst there’s still uncertainty we know a lot more about the virus than we did last year hopefully players are doing okay.
I’m personally really happy for the Vixens and Magpies that they can at least be at home this time, after everything Melbourne went through last year and then already spending over a month away from home it must be refreshing for them for once.So the Thunderbirds are going to fly in and out still?
Looks like T’Birds next two games are home games – Magpies then F’Birds. Then off to Perth after that.
Hmmm JR – I guess they’ll be hoping that the family in SA with covid have all done as requested and stayed isolated.
Maryann, from what I have read the family has stayed, mostly isolated. Dad (the miner), mum and three of the four kids have tested positive. But the grandparents visited …so not 100% isolated unfortunately. The grandparents have tested negative. Hope they isolate and get tested again.
The big worry is that the dad was on a plane with others from Alice Springs and it’s the other passengers that need to isolate, be traced, tested etc etc etc. Good luck Adelaide.
In the AFL, Adelaide and Port are rushing to Victoria today.
Where are the SSN Magpies at the moment?
