Wanted to create a little discussion space to talk about the next Diamonds squad members.

For the defence end Ash Ervin has to be standing up at the moment she was great at Fast5 and in a lineup with two diamond defenders she is almost locking down that GK position. Emily Mannix definitely could be eyeing off a spot although she is less of an up and comer

After the first three rounds i would have said Tippah Dwan was standing up as the next Goal Attack especially with Dwyer’s form however a bit unsure on that one now. Horjus should be locked in as a future WA that can swing into GA

The midcourters is much more competitive, Mundy ATN and Horjus are the standouts next in line could be MIMI Gardner and Walters, Could Kate Eddy get a call up?

Horjus and Ervin have been the standouts for me. Ervin’s height will be a big plus on the international scene.

I don’t think there’s room Kate Eddy. However I’d have her in my mix. If anything was to happen to Weston, I’d have Eddy in there straight away.

Tayla Williams is a future Diamond player. Playing and training against the Jamaicans would give some good insight to their game. Flip side, they’d know her very well too.

Walter’s, Mundy & Williams would have strong cases. Walters needs a couple of seasons under her belt, but she looks very promising.

ATN is already 28, and (realistically) only plays one position and has no playing connection to other diamond’s players. With promising young ones Horjus, Williams, Mundy, etc and the likes of Watson, Moloney and Hadley still playing on, I doubt we’ll see much of ATN in diamonds.

Horjus and Williams have got to be on the radar. The next lot of shooters might be difficult as a lot of the up and comers (Wilkinson, L. Austin, Letherbarrow) aren’t getting consistent court time yet to show off/hone their skills

Hopefully we start seeing fresh faces in the squads for international competitions soon. A lot of the current Diamonds might retire (at least internationally) following the next World Cup, which means the experience level might drop significantly.

Are we expecting a 2024/25 squad announced soon, either prior to SSN finishing or soon after?

forgot about williams but for sure she would be leading the midcourters pack

ATN I believe was training with the Diamonds squad last year, however i do think she may be slightly hindered by having played so many seasons with Fowler, Aussie shooting circle is very different to the shooting circle ATN has been feeding so well

With the form of Sunday Aryang and Weston i wonder how much opportunity there will be for RBD to get more international experience.

When will the squad be announced?

Horjus and Ervin will definitely be in the squad.

I think Williams is ahead of Mundy, she’s a C WD so we don’t really need another wa c because there is Liz, Georgie and Hadley.

I’d like to see Mannix take plays spot. Klau has been pretty ordinary this season.

Dwan should’ve been next in line for the shooters but hasn’t performed this season with firebirds. The only person who may be dropped is wallam for Jok. If she decides to play for Australia.
